"[114 mile] series of new and improved bike lanes will cover 17 corridors ... is meant to help the city reach its goal of 15% of trips being done by bike within 10 years" hey #pdxBikes is #Portland still going for that 25% they #ClimateAction-pinkie-promised? Count how many times you see 4-lane stroads in this video. It's not a "$4B backlog". Connect #PopUpBikeLanes into a #bikewayNetwork like Montreal (and Paris, and Amsterdam etc before them) or sit in traffic.
I'm wondering how to put a breathable layer under my #RainCape, but this is that odd time of year in PNW where it's sometimes raining but too hot for a long-sleeve shirt. What do you do to avoid clammy forearms #BikeTooter#pdxBikes?
Monday at 6, Climate Curious and 350PDX host Become a Climate Superhero Ride from Irving Park with costume making (be careful with those capes and spokes!) to #ClimateAction fair at Mocks Crest.
Join me Wed at 5:30 with @bikeloudpdx for a tour of the new and in-progress and as-yet-unbuilt SW #Portland#pdxBikes infrastructure and a few routes that aren't too hilly plus maybe some places without cars. Meet near the playground behind Multnomah Arts Center on SW Capitol Hwy #pedalpaloozaPDX
from the bumpy-bumpy-bumpy narrow forest path to the painted bike lane with freeway-offramp-to-#BarburBlvd drivers trying to kill you, #Terwilliger#pdxBikes ride from Lake Oswego to #Portland would be a lot nicer if we spent a fraction of that useless car-subsidizing funny money on the bikeway. All of that speed, just to go sit in standstill traffic a minute or two sooner, now ask any of these drivers about metro's RTP 🙄
what do you say to "yet another plan of disjoint unfunded projects... bandages on the dozens of traffic deaths per year, for what? To race to the next red light and then sit in line at some chokepoint, because nobody else wants to get out of their car in this environment, despite average speeds of 12-15mph. We just need to trim back the number of thruway car lanes until we have a complete bike and walk network and transit priority lanes keeping the bus from being stuck in car traffic.
A few more days to make yourself heard about this #transportation boondoggle stuff and tell them we need these agencies to have day-to-day accountability for the mobility goals, not just longer planning processes for capital projects. #Portland#pdxBikes#pdx metro #ClimateAction

Big #pedalpaloozaPDX day, 10am ride with Roger to see a bike lane (is this a PBOT ride?), 10:30 tree huggers at Arbor Lodge Park, or a big loop around Hillsboro with Ride Westside, 11am SE uplift neighborhoods tour from SE 33rd & Milwaukie Ave,
and #BikeFun 2pm dress like your favorite bike lane art from Clinton Park SE 56th & Woodward #pdxBikes#Portland
#YellowCenterlines give #drivers the wrong idea about how to share our limited street space. This bus driver is giving lots of room, and driving where they would be if #Terwilliger were an #edgeLaneRoad makes for a much safer and more pleasant #pdxBikes experience, even as the bus passes us going uphill. Wider bike lanes and a narrower shared center space would reduce speeds and put the conflict between streams of traffic with matching bumpers, requiring drivers to slow down and pay attention.
sure would be neat to have that orange barrel in the way of yahoos whipping through the intersection onto a greenway but #PBOT#TrafficEngineers think this intersection is "too narrow" to put a barrel in the center 🙄 #pdxBikes#Portland "Neighborhood Greenways"
2:30 at city hall, learn about the governments of #Portland on #pdxBikes, what to expect from our new districts and #RankChoice elections, and sign the #STARvoting Oregon petition + join the campaign for better state and federal elections. #pedalpalooza#ORpol
6pm tomorrow (Thurs), join @bikeloudpdx at 16th & SE Clinton for an easy 6-mile ride to study locations from our Bike Crash Report infrastructure analysis project. See how police have phoned-in these reports from behind a windshield, what details are missing, and how design led to the crash. Learn how to measure and effectively document conditions that create safety risks and accessibility issues for people using bikes as #transportation. #pdxBikes#PedalpaloozaPDX
I filed six or seven specific reports of the thorny vegetation overgrowth on Terwilliger #pdxBikes. If they don't actually fix it, at least there will be plenty of evidence that they knew available to the plaintiff(s).
Huh. Are the PBLs on Northern Blvd/Broadway any good? Normally I'd take #QueensBlvdPBL/Skillman to get to #LIC, but just noticed that google maps suggests a slightly longer (by .1mi) but less hilly route. I know portions of broadway are still shitty (but then again so are portions of queens blvd).
@stevenbodzin@alsuren@Andres4NY@bikeloudpdx has a Bike Buddy service for #pdxBikes to get help from a volunteer for the first time on a route or tips about a neighborhood. I would love to make some kind of navigation and issue reporting app that sent stuff to 311 so you could get a button or three on the handlebar for collecting data while you ride, take a pic or video, and/or voice recording, maybe it asks about an existing report at that location that you could tag onto.
