⚖️ Here is the text of the 13-count indictment of #GOP Rep George Santos.

To bad being an out-loud racist isn't a Federal crime.

At last, there seems to be a tool for embedding into (i.e. files) for plus systems. It’s a previewer called which recognizes the movie and you can start it, pause it, etc with your mouse. If your machine is attached to a second screen, it automatically displays the presentation on it.

Found a good command for compressing images in a PDF without messing with the text or anything else:

gs -sDEVICE=pdfwrite -dCompatibilityLevel=1.4 -dDownsampleColorImages=true -dColorImageResolution=150 -dNOPAUSE -dBATCH -sOutputFile=output.pdf input.pdf

Things that keep me from cancelling :

  • Illustrator tracing
  • Illustrator color changer
  • Acrobat form editing
  • This one AfterEffects Project that I spent a lot of time on
  • This one customer that needs .indd files

Things that keep me want to cancel:

  • performance especially, it should not lag on a computer mostly unimpressed by my 3d, video and audio workflows
  • buggyness

In brief: Use #ConTeXt, #WeasyPrint, Prince XML, #LibreOffice, or MS Word (hashtags mark FOSS).

Very glad to see the steps toward (). These include "offering well-formatted , alongside and source."
https://blog.arxiv.org/2023/01/19/access-is-not-the-same-as-accessibility-a-framework-for-making-research-papers-truly-open/

PS: There are 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘺 reasons to offer well-formatted HTML alongside PDF, or to stop PDF-only publishing. Accessibility is first, followed closely by making work friendly to mobile users, users with low bandwidth, and users who need to text-mine, cut/paste, or use machine translation.

petersuber,

Update. For its #OpenAccess books, @librarycongress now supports #EPUB for online reading, not just downloading. A big step away from the dominance of #PDF.

Most writers are not experts in IT or formatting and would rather spend time writing. Self publishing is really self marketing. Traditional publishers are really marketing companies, few do their own printing, traditionally a Press. Volume paper printing is now mostly China and Eastern Europe. For small numbers of paper copies it’s best value to use Lulu or a similar Print on demand (POD) company.

Authors that want help with formatting and eBook conversion can contact Booknook.biz as we only deal with some local people face to face.

You can contact us here.

All offers of SEO or any other attempt at selling us stuff is junked. Corvids are smart, so no spam.
