Everything about #neuralink is so very #cyberpunk, but not the aspects that we want to see happening. Company ran by a scumbag capitalist who has never invented anything that killed a bunch of lab animals with testing and covered it all up. Now implanting it's tech into a human test subject.
In a #ttrpg this would be the company the PC's are hired to burn down because they making every other tech company look bad.
My thought on Neuralink implanting tech in human heads for the first time:
Brain implants are one of those technologies where the MTBF for the implant MUST exceed the MTBF of the implantee. And there must be lifetime after-sales support, Or else the execs who made the decision to pull support should go to prison for the rest of their lives.
I've posted articles on other #biological implants whose companies have folded leaving the recipients with no support or access to maintenance or repair because they're closed, proprietary systems and intellectual property, and are sometimes left in worse condition than before receiving the devices.
I believe I'd rather suffer or die than trust anything involving Musk.
I've been thinking with empathy about the quality of life a person would have to have in order to allow Elon Musk to put an experimental chip in your head. When we are looking at these stories, let's remember the serious lack of support for #disabled people in our country, both on a societal level and in terms of the dwindling social safety net. It's not surprising that a person would feel tempted to reach for a dangerous tech tool, even one with such horrifying potential consequences. #ElonMusk#Neuralink
Do you want to control computers with your mind? Elon Musk's Neuralink is hoping to make that happen after the billionaire announced the first human has received an implant from the company. Mashable explains:
#Neuralink from Musk (a.k.a. Space Karen) is another of his scam businesses. He's inflating the value by thinking out loud what might be possible but they are lightyears away from delivering. The company is ignoring many rules and standards to make progress at all cost. Media is reporting about them as it would be a "normal" company.
It is not. They are taking much more risk than other companies. The CEO is really a lunatic with a god complex and journalists are doing free advertisement for them. Stop that until they delivered something practical and legal.
