People always mistake me for an adult because of my age. It's an easy mistake to make.

I am, in fact, a 54yr old kid. I like cartoons, computer games, eating junk food, sweets and ice creams.

I blush when I kiss girls and I love kicking my feet through big piles of leaves.

Now if you excuse me. I'm off to my pillow fort to do some colouring in ;D

ok people. Lend me your brains!

My 2TB HDD died. I didn't lose anything too precious but I did lose some stuff I'm annoyed about.

I'm buying myself another HDD (not an SSD) and Ive considered RAID (5 or 10?) but I doubt I'll go with that as I'll need to buy several HDD's

However I'm looking at backup options. I've looked at Macrium but don't know what/where to back up to.

Another HDD? DVD? Blu-Ray? External SSD? Cloud? Hand inscribed binary in Tungsten sheets? XD

horrible dawning realisation

AWW MAN !!!!

When my HDD died I lost a lot of stuff. Not least, the flipping Minecraft mod pack I was creating! All my custom mods, my scripts, my config changes, my custom data packs.

KAPUT !!

Also doesn't help I'd recorded about 6 hrs of "Let's Play" to demo the pack and had enough for about 4 to 5 30 min episodes after editing and I wasn't going to upload to YouTube "Until I'd ironed out a few pack issues"

dammit ! :(

The very best thing about is the abundance of nettles in our garden ensuring a good crop for a tasty "foraged" nettle soup or spanakopita! (Nettle soup in this instance!)

petelittle1970,
@petelittle1970@masto.alittleofnothing.co.uk avatar

Don't have any hard or fast recipes to follow so i just use what vegetables I have available. So in this instance i'm using onion, potatoes, carrots and celery along with the nettles which will be added later.

petelittle1970,
@petelittle1970@masto.alittleofnothing.co.uk avatar

@WhyNotZoidberg it was darned good I can tell you.

Nettles are abundant, taste a bit like a mild peppery spinach and a good source of calcium , iron, magnesium and vitamin B6.

@actuallyautistic

petelittle1970,
@petelittle1970@masto.alittleofnothing.co.uk avatar

@JeremyMallin @actuallyautistic it's definitely me thing. Possibly an aspect of my autism but the dataset isn't large enough to draw conclusions.

I love to bake, but making scones, for example, makes me feel nauseous with the sticky dough sticking to my hands.

I'm forever washing and rewashing my hands. And I hate sticky foods like jam or syrup.

@actuallyautistic #ActuallyAutistic

#Autistic buddies. Lend me your ears. I'm in somewhat of a quandry.

I am a #Patreon for a well known and respected #Autism YouTube account.

But for some months now he's not been producing anything nor communicating with anyone (at least not on the social media platforms I frequent)

I previously cancelled my patreon and later resubscribed when he returned but he's gone off again.

I don't want to just unsub as I do want to support him.. but that said....

petelittle1970,
@petelittle1970@masto.alittleofnothing.co.uk avatar

@actuallyautistic

I'm not on the bread line but I'm not exactly made of money either.

I support my patreons because I believe in what they're doing and want to help out. But if they're not doing anything I'm literally just throwing money into the void.

I know he had financial worries previously and I really don't want to exacerbate that.

I'm conflicted. Should I continue to sponsor? or cut my losses?

    So I've had my airless tyres on the bike for a few days now and had a couple of commutes to/from work.

    two observations.

    One, it's a fair bit more "boneshakery" You feel every lump, bump and road texture through your coccyx and the bike is vibrating a lot more.

    Two. Today in the rain I realised (a bit too late XD) that the factory coating on the tyres reduces grip in the wet. And today was very wet. I braked and wondered why I was skidding rather than slowing XD

    The jets were busy this morning spraying Wokeion and Agent Fushia into our atmosphere.

    Wokeion is activated by the microchips in the covid vaccine and turns straight people gay and makes us buy bikes.

    Agent Fushia is broken down into it's active agents by 5G antenna and makes us all left leaning and environmental focused and really keen to live in a15 minute gulag. ;)

    Or it's just ordinary water vapour on a cold morning? Hahaha

    petelittle1970,
    @petelittle1970@masto.alittleofnothing.co.uk avatar

    Of course Wokeion and Agent Fushia are joke made up chemicals.. but these so called "chemtrails" are laden with Dihydrogen Monoxide!!

    A chemical often used in nuclear power plant cooling, It's found in all cancerous tumours, prolonged exposure can cause tissue damage. It's the main cause of soil erosion, inhalation of even a small amount can prove fatal, the government adds it to our tap water and it's sprayed on our intensive farmed crops to encourage growth.

    And THAT'S ALL TRUE... kinda ;)

    I thing the enshittification of everything is the direct result of entropy increasing. Everything tends to chaos.

    Mediocrity is applauded. People feel more skilled than they actually are resulting in some terrible fan fiction and shoddy artworks being sold out there.

    employees are thanked and "rewarded" for meeting the base level of competence in their jobs.

    adequate is adjusted to good.

    @eo @actuallyautistic While I really like my headphones I can't say I'm in love with them as they're electronics and plastic.

    However my Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones are an absolute JOY to use. Comfortable and have great noise cancelling.

    I deliberated over these and the Bose ones. In the end a local tech shop let me try both and they were both excellent.

    The Sony had just the edge on noise reduction and comfort.

    I listen to a LOT of music. Quality is excellent for what I listen to.

    By that I mean I listen to a lot of MP3 and streaming music. Not plugged into an expensive Hifi playing the latest in crystal clear music with diamond encrusted stylus hovering over the record on an angel's breath XD

    MP3 is lossy. Streaming is too.

    But I listen to Classical, Rock, Jazz, Metal, Blues, Punk, Prog, Orchestral, Vocal, Electronic, Dance and ...well everything and have no complaints about quality of sound.
