Ok starting a new art thread for 2023! Here's the deal: a mostly daily thread with a different artist every day (sometimes I repeat from previous years if I feel like featuring other work/projects), primarily modern and contemporary since that's my thing. I'm even making a hashtag for it in case that makes it easier for folks to follow. Enjoy! #art#BigArtThread
Paintings by British artist and writer Gordon Onslow Ford, 1930s-50s, who left the Royal Navy to study art in Paris, befriending André Breton and Roberto Matta, later giving lectures on Surrealism in NYC that influenced the first generation of Abstract Expressionists.
Ceramic vessels by Japanese artist Shoji Hamada, 1940s-60s, whose minimalist style and implementation of various folk craft traditions learned in England, Korea, and Okinawa have influenced many modern and contemporary potters. #ceramics#art#ModernArt#BigArtThread
Woodblock prints by Japanese artist Yoshida Chizuko, 1950s-60s, a co-founder of the Joryū Hanga Kyōkai, the first association for women printmakers in Japan, known for her abstract experiments within the medium. #art#printmaking#ModernArt#BigArtThread
Been on my feet working all day. My hands/body ache, but it is what is required to provide food for us. Not a complaint. I like being connected to my nourishment. I know exactly where it comes from, how it was cared for and what it takes to have such a basic need met. I am grateful. Time for a wave of pure WATER!

I've always loved pottery. Someday I would love to set up a kiln and wheel here. Until then, I can collect from other artists and draw/paint what I like.
