    @kubikpixel @hko I would recommend Sequoia it’s a full replacement of the gnupg project and is in rust and being built by someone real smart people including ex-gnupg devs. We’ve used it in doip-rs #keyoxide and the api is super well documented. You can also fully use pure rust by changing the features tho the rust crypto libraries aren’t safe yet.

    Hey all 😃 we're trying to get a build ready for the mobile app's big update, just in time for to demonstrate during the event and we wanted to ask you if you'd be willing to help us out by translating some words and short sentences 🤗 big thanks!

    will be at ! I'll be giving a lightning talk on how the new profiles work, and how to write a short script to create and upload a profile from scratch!

    Last night, in an effort to remove stress from @keyoxide contributors, I triaged issues in the keyoxide-web repository.

    While I was able to close several of them due to the problem being fixed, my communication was short on some issues. Especially those that have been open since years.

    I apologise and take full responsibility for my deeds.

    🧵

    RyunoKi,
    @RyunoKi@layer8.space avatar

    The #keyoxide org changed over time. Currently the services are implemented in doipjs while it will be in doiprs in the long run.

    While I could have reopened the issues myself that would be bad in the long run. I would position myself as proxy between the OP and the future communication.

    Therefore I left a comment on where to file issues going forward and closed the ticket.

    Last night we decided to enlarge the team to distribute triaging tasks.

    RyunoKi,
    @RyunoKi@layer8.space avatar

    This means, a small team of reviewers will look at issues, trying to reproduce them or ask for more information.

    Expect to see labels in the near future. There will be a blog post going into the details.

    I received feedback, listened and learned how to act better going forward in the #keyoxide community.

    Excited to see it growing!

    Big mobile app update 🚀

    Most notably, the app can now also verify the new ASP profiles! See the screenshot for an example!

    Also, nice and helpful icons for each claim!

    brokenix,

    @rml cursed. thats something i can tell my children( such people exist) :neofox_devil:
    Assuming they exist
    on a serious note , i am setting up a #wkd
    I even think , do i need #keyoxide

    Oh hey! #keyoxide got a visual update on the website, looks nice.

    Is KeyBase still a thing? #keybase #encryption #messenger

    @joel@fosstodon.org avatar

    @dusoft the new kid in town (not so new anymore at all) is #Keyoxide. But yes, Keybase still exists

    @cjerrington@mstdn.social avatar

    Started looking at #keybase but think #keyoxide is where I’ll stay. How are files encrypted when I haven’t uploaded my GPG keys? Seems a bit odd. Also don’t want to sent my private key to them, although it makes sense they need one to do some actions.

    Is it worth having another key dedicated to Keybase that matches another primary address I use?

    all of the fedidrama with blocklists comes down to the idea that instances are needed for proxying traffic, but this is only true because identities are not decentralized, which is a fundamental mistake of the mastodon era of software
    this is not really up to debate
    without decentralized identity we will have this problem of someone else deciding what data we have access to, so if you don't like that, you have to push for it, the same way mastodon pushed for the democratization of this centralized model away from twitter, and even before mastodon others did so in a less accessible way
    give power to the users by making it accessible, not by pretending that everyone can learn to use docker

    kkarhan,
    @kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

    @efi That would require people to learn how to use #Keyoxide, #GnuPG / #OpenPGP and #SelfHost their shit which - lets be honest - nobody but the most #TechLiterate do.

    And sadly we can't ban #TechIlliterates from using #Tech or the #Internet...

    Proving your identity online is NOT an easy task.
    https://keybase.io is a possible option.

    Do you know other solutions?

    danie10,
    @danie10@mastodon.social avatar

    @YesIKnowIT the preference for many was to move to #KeyOxide the last two or three years... think I verified against that for my Mastodon profile too.

    Finally! I have set up #keyoxide and added most of my accounts there.

    https://pgp.scientiac.space

    Adding this redirect to my mastodon profile doesn't verify and shows the red cross.

    I added redirect following https://docs.keyoxide.org/understanding-keyoxide/identity-proof-formats#Profile_URL

    And still, mastodon doesn't show the verification mark on my @keyoxide link. How do I verify it?

    keyoxide, to random

    Interested in getting started with ? No command line involved, promise 😋

    What is your favourite app? Would be interested if I can discover a few new cool apps, I missed until now. Thank you already for sharing! @fdroid

    brokenix,

    @kirschner @islamicaudiobooks @fdroid @delta @AntennaPod yes except that I ve no contact , who want to do an encrypted chat with me outside #signal
    This could be on my for not using it in a way, which is convenient for others.
    It has happened , when I encrypted my twitter DM , emails with #gpg , without fully understanding gpg and I had to step back from that. #keyoxide has brought some hope , but I am yet to get there, where I can use it efficiently even for work

    Read another horrible story about someone getting scammed out of fursuit level money, and I feel horrible for them but there's not much I can do.

    Maybe 2023 is the year we need to normalize escrow services for large furry purchases?

    Here's one: https://www.escrow.com/

    kkarhan,
    @kkarhan@mstdn.social avatar

    @sec_yote_agenda Personally, I think that instead of #Escrow making actual #Reputation as key decision part is a more viable option.

    After all the #Furry community should be able to use #Keyoxide (or even #Keybase) to verify producers and reviews to make scamming harder and more expensive.

    Sadly this would kinda raise the bar for new suitmakers, but it would reward those doing their craft longterm and having good customer relations.

    Escrow exist for juristictions w/o consumer protections...

    @fosstodon Site is no longer verified. Can you please check on that? Thanks.

    mike,
    @mike@fosstodon.org avatar

    @XeroLinux @sys Agree. That's kinda why I went with a #Keyoxide link instead of just putting everything into my profile. I can validate the Keyoxide and then use that to validate all the rest of my stuff. It works for me.

    Just spent 2.5 shockingly productive hours debugging something in @keyoxide @keyoxide . It looks like Twitter might be blocking keyoxide.org -- or proxy.keyoxide.org -- from accessing the oembed endpoint that (I think) it presently uses for validating Twitter proofs. Or maybe the hosted version of the software at keyoxide.org is just older than the dev branch in the repo. I didn't see any recent commits concerning the issue though, so...

    https://codeberg.org/keyoxide/keyoxide-web/issues/163#issuecomment-931046

    I'm curious to see if my suspicion turns out to be correct, or if my "productive" time... wasn't. Haven't felt this "tech-capable," if you will, in nearly a year. And I didn't want to yeet my computer into the garbage dump, a la Ron Swanson, either.

    I also managed to put my subkeys -- on an environment via without connecting to any networks (yeah yeah, not technically a full airgap I suppose; but better than nothing) -- onto a newer earlier today. Well, "new" as in "I bought two of them nearly a decade ago on the assumption that one of them would eventually break," which... one of them did.

    aspensmonster, to fediverse

    Just finished adding three more accounts to my . My (diode.zone), my (lemmygrad.ml), and my (bookwyrm.social). Looks like it's all working :D

    https://keyoxide.org/79895B2E0F87503F1DDE80B649765D7F0DDD9BD5

    I've got 13 identities set up now. This sort of thing is great exercise for keeping my knowledge fresh, especially when I'm having to fiddle with everything on an airgapped machine. I also went ahead and updated my master key and subkey expirations while I was at it. By 2025, the keypair will have officially been in use for a decade.
