The vote came after it narrowly cleared the AZ House last wk. The bill is expected to be signed by Gov Katie Hobbs.
The 1864 #law, which predates AZ’s statehood, permits #abortion only to save the patient’s life—& provides NO exceptions for survivors of #rape or #incest.
The law also states the age of consent for a “woman” is 10 yrs.
#Iowa’s Supreme Court heard oral arguments Thurs in a case that could decide the future of #abortion in that state, the latest in a series of #legal battles that threaten abortion #access across the country during a historic #election year.
For now, #abortion remains #legal in #Iowa up to 22 wks of pregnancy. The #law, if upheld, would limit the procedure to a time frame in which many women don’t yet know they are #pregnant. It has limited exceptions for #rape & #incest or if the woman’s life is in danger.
This latest legal battle comes at the end of a flurry of abortion developments nationwide that could have major implications for the presidential election in Nov.
"State Rep. Nick Wilson proposed changing Kentucky’s incest law to add a ban on 'sexual contact' to the existing ban on 'sexual intercourse' between family members, but says he accidentally struck 'first cousins' from the list of illegal relationships. Viral posts wrongly claimed Wilson wanted to legalize incest between cousins. He refiled a corrected bill."
I support Rep. Nick Wilson's (R-KY) bill to allow sex between brothers and sisters, parents and children. It will hasten the demise of the Republican Party.
“In Kentucky, they were running an ad with a 12-year-old girl saying I got #pregnant from #incest, and Daniel Cameron would make me have the baby,” Kilmeade explained. “The Cameron camp never answered that ad. There was another one with the DA saying a nine-year-old, same situation, Daniel Cameron, would make me go through with it, and he had no answer for it.”
Perhaps because there is no satisfactory answer under their plan, and they know it? 🤷🏻♀️
The company’s website, which has since been removed from the internet, promoted a number of socially conservative family values while claiming to provide a “life-changing process of personal discovery, growth, and genuine restoration.”
