I hail (and escaped) from rural southern #Alabama, where a hundred-mile step in any direction was like simply turning one’s head. Wall-to-wall #ignorance, #xenophobia, #racism, #illiteracy, and love for #WrongJesus were the scape to all our horizons. My first visit to #Ohio lifted a great weight from my shoulders - maybe I hadn’t been fatally born in the worst state after all.
