Does anyone know if there's much of a difference between #Borland MAKE files and #GNU MAKE files?
There's an old #Psion project on GitHub that uses Borland MAKE as part of its build process. I was thinking of migrating it to GNU MAKE (on DOS) to remove a proprietary dependency.

I just opened up registration for the March iteration of the "Hands-On Guile Scheme for Beginners" course!
This is an 8-week course that is a mixture of on-demand learning content, live Q&A sessions, practical exercises, and a private forum where I answer all your questions. We had a great time in the February iteration so I'm looking forward to running it again!
Come learn Scheme and functional programming with us!
“Free software” means software that respects users' freedom and community. (..) It's a matter of liberty, not price. To understand the concept, you should think of “free” as in “free speech,” not as in “free beer.” We sometimes call it “libre software,” borrowing the French/Spanish word ("libre") for “free” as in freedom, to show we don't mean the software is gratis."
What's better than a #desktop screenshot? A desktop snapshot!
I spent a couple of months creating a set of scripts to build a #bootable#ISO image out of my #gentoo install, with all the packages, patches and configurations it involves.
Doing this allows me to create an archive of not only what my desktop looks like, but what it feels like. #gnu#linux keeps changing, and with it, my setup. It's hard to bring back old configs.
@philsplace Good for you. Lotta folks out there breaking their brains against #bash and #GNU coreutils (all the world's a GNU / #Linux box, right?) scripting when they could uplift to #Perl.

What's currently the best used or refurbished laptop for GNU+Linux that I can buy? I'd prefer to be able to do some light gaming on it. I intend to take it with me to conferences abroad so battery life needs to be decent. #Linux#Gnu#opensource#Laptop#PCMR#PC

"Wayland and X.org are both part of freedesktop. Whatever maintenance is still happening on X.org is mostly being done by people who primarily work on Wayland. There isn't some kind of holy war going on between The Wayland Developers who want to kill X.org, and The X.org Developers who believe it is great and want to keep it. They're nearly all the same people, and they all want X.org to die."
@Anarcat
You'd expect from a heterogeneous group of hackers that one of the first applications to be ported to Wayland would have been #GNU#Emacs and #EXWM, right?
