Some #Canadian provinces have recorded a rise in #unclaimed#dead bodies in the past few years, with next of kin citing #funeral costs as a growing reason for not collecting loved ones’ remains.
This has prompted at least one province to build a new storage facility, while demand for #MemorialFundraisers surged.
The overall cost of a funeral in #Canada at the top end has increased to about US$8,800 from about US$6,000 in 1998, industry trade group estimates showed.
The police presence appeared heavy for the service. Some attendees shouted, “No to war” & “#Russia will be free” as they marched to the cemetery where the opposition leader was to be buried.

unless you absolutely hate your birth family and want to make their lives really difficult - get your affairs in order.
Pre-pay your funeral if you can, or make sure the insurance has the authority to directly pay out the undertaker.
Because to sort out the mess without a will, relying on the legal system alone, it is a nightmare for those left behind.
Especially if they live in another country.
Yesterday I was helping clean up my Aunt's #estate, before her #funeral. And I tripped on the front lawn, crashed to the ground. I tore Upen my right elbow, wrenched out my right shoulder and had another #concussion. So I'm a total mess today. And the way concussions work will be for days/weeks 🤬
I haven't really shared my cemetery photos here. I travel a lot throughout the year, visiting cemeteries, primarily looking for handmade grave markers.
This is probably my favorite. I have yet to figure out the head on the crucifix. Although the text hints to a Biblical song, as does the crucifix, the head looks like an animal of some sort.
