After a couple of rides and a recent visit to have Grey checked (where I asked the vendor to ride it with #PAS at zero to see if he too has a hard time pedaling)...
Grey ⚫🚲 is no good without 🔋 power, unlike Big Bike ⚪🚲 that rides like any regular non-powered #MTB.
What seatpost sorcery is this? I don't do too much mountain biking, so I did a double take today when I saw this #ebike seatpost rising after a guy passed me. Are these common on #ebikes? #cycling
It’s not cheating using #ebikes (although it is using Strava but that’s just for visual representation), if it wasn’t for electric-assist bikes we would be driving. Averaging 20km/hr isn’t that much slower than a car. Two hours in the saddle.
We should be building for #cargobikes more than EVs. Cheaper for everyone, much better for the environment, better all round.
Starting June 1, the Province of British Columbia will offer residents a rebate for purchasing a new ebike. The lower your income, the higher your rebate. This is good policy. E-bikes are amazing! https://bcebikerebates.ca/#ebike#ebikes#mobility#climate
The City of #Boulder, #Colorado‘s e-bike rebate program begins in July. Residents will be able to get $300 back off the price an e-bike or $500 off an e-cargo bike sold by local retailers. Low-income residents get even more back, $1200/$1400 respectively.
“I support safe biking not because I’m a person who rides a bike, but because I’m someone who understands how important it is for cities to function better.” My comments to @SactownMagazine in #Sacramento on e-bikes, safe bike infrastructure, and more.
daughter keeps asking how many bikes I have now and I try to count but we lose track somewhere in the debate about how to count scooters or trikes or the pedalflow, trailer bike, unicycle... 😂
Please help me find more content for my feed. It's currently too depressing, and full of #abpoli and #uspolitics and global disaster doom and gloom. I like local content, and #bikes, #urbanism (less so the doom and gloom stuff), #travel, #families, #animals & #nature, and fun random stuff. Most of the podcasts etc that I followed on bird site haven't migrated. 😢
Electrek: Why Fox News wants you to be afraid of electric bikes
"e-bikes are exactly the kind of change that Fox News would vilify – a low-cost technology that helps Americans of all socioeconomic levels get around without a clutching dependence on Big Oil and Big Auto."
The last & only ebike I had (a Packster 80) had a derailleur on it. I don't recall issues with shifting, aside from the standard ones (I hate not being able to shift while stopped).
On the other hand, I've had a Nuvinci N360 since 2012 on the non-electric cargo bike, and it's great. Now that I've added e-assist, though, it sucks. It's really really hard to shift under load. I end up just adjusting the motor assistance up and down rather than the gearing, because it's so annoying.
What do other ebike folks do? Do you just get used to not pedaling while shifting? Are other internal gear hubs better? Do you just go with a derailleur instead?
bike check / mountain check for the yuba #supercargo with the little #hillTopper#eBikes kit. Rode from Barbur up Terwilliger to downtown, around with the @bikeloudpdx#pdxBikes#eBike policy ride, and back out Barbur from 1st. The battery indicator was red (of blue, green, red) when I got home but it never faded on the long steady climb out Barbur, 10 minutes for 2.5 miles with 200+ft elevation (ODOT, get your cars off of our essential historically-streetcar-graded bikeways)

I'm Nelson, your Jawns.Club admin, and a #climateJustice activist living in the Mt. Airy neighborhood of #Philadelphia. I love #bicycles / #ebikes, #birdsong, and #solar power. Last year I moved house entirely by bicycle. My favorite band is #Queen, and I'm slowly collecting #vinyl from local musicians. I sing in the bath and carry a song in my heart.
