@Lassielmr she'd do better getting together with folk like #Corbyn, Lloyd Russell-Moyle, Diane Abbott and others and founding a new English left party right now, in time to register as a candidate for this election. I think that candidates who are already known in their constituency and have a clear left stance could do very well.
Speaking at the campaign launch for his bid to become the independent MP for Islington North, after he was blocked from being Labour’s candidate, Corbyn said: “Democracy within parties as well as within communities is an important part of our lives. Democracy isn’t just about how you vote every four or five years. It is about your right to speak, your right to know, your right to organise, your right to dissent. It’s not about shutting down dissent, silencing people who disagree.”
I think you replied too soon. Diane Abbott has revealed she's being barred from standing for #Labour at #GE2024.
Like I said, a new broom sweeps clean & now is the opportune moment for #Starmer to fine tune the look of his party as further evidence it's a changed political machine, that's moved on from the #Socialist party of protest that it was under Comrade #Corbyn.
It is what it is. The world evolves & moves on, & it seems so has Labour. Evidently some yearn for the 2019 version
It all comes down to opinions, & it seems the vast majority of the #UK electorate are about to disagree with you in record numbers.
Personally, I think there's too much political distance between the hard left & #Labour's centre. In terms of ideology, you couldn't put a cig paper between them, but in tes of approach they're galaxies apart.
What gets me is why the left don't coalesce to one party under #Corbyn & present their vision to the #UK? Perhaps you can explain?
Today, #Labour have extended their poll lead irrespective of new daily policy announcements from the #Tories. It's seems the #UK's had enough of them, & yearns for change regardless of what you think of #Starmer & his changed party.
The UK & Labour are moving forward with or without the hard left. They can either get on-board the Starmer Express, or be left behind on the platform moaning about #Corbyn. The choice is that really that simple.
What #Starmer is saying & doing, is different to his intent. Even the #Tories can see that Starmer's playing them at their own political game, & they can't stop him like they did with the hapless #Corbyn.
Understand this. It's All About power first, then fix 14 years of #Tory decay & mismanagement when in power.
Without power, Labour can talk all it wants, but it CAN'T affect the change the #UK desperately needs or wants in opposition. Some just can't see the obvious. 🤷🏾♂️
@AnthonyFStevens No - I can see what he's up to. You do get absolutely everything wrong, don't you? I mean - like 100% here.
You bang on about incessantly #Corbyn (I think you could talk to someone about that). You ignore the actual pioints made and then descend into fantasy. He's told us he's a Zionist. He's supported the genocide. And his double standard for Palestinians, Muslims and Diane are clear evidence of gross racism.
You might not like it. But then that's your issue not mine
Jeremy Corbyn's official campaign video, standing as an Independent candidate for Islington North in the coming General Election.
I suspect there will be many people pounding the streets of Islington in his support. He is a principled man who had to be removed as Labour leader because he couldn't be bought.
As if #KeirStarmer couldn't get any worse, but today he says he shares the values of a far right Tory opportunist with a history that includes trying to influence a judge to keep her sex offender husband from being held to account. Not to mention her far right views and close alignment to Boris Johnson.
#UKLabour is now a party that rejects an MP of integrity, Jeremy #Corbyn, but dishes out a cushy job to snag low lifes like Natalie #Elphicke.
Sunak rejects the offer of a mobility scheme for young people between the EU & UK
Labour also rejected the EU's proposal which would've allowed young people to live, work & study in the bloc
Opinion: This is what I hate about politics! The Tories know they've made a mess of Brexit, but daren't do anything to repair the damage. Labour can't agree to it because they'll be accused of reversing Brexit
#Sunak is battling with #ReformUK for the #FarRight#Gammon vote, so there's zero chance he'd touch it for fear of #Farage claiming #Brexit's failed because it's the wrong type of Brexit. 🙄
#Starmer doesn't want to reignite the 2019 "Get Brexit Done" battle which proved so effective against the hapless #Corbyn.
For #Labour it's a case of power first, then resolve issues like this if they gain power after #GE2024. Starmer won't say or do anything beforehand to jeopardise that.
An interesting allegation at this employment tribunal, about a plan to ask a BAME employee of EHRC to sign off their antisemitism "investigation" into Jeremy Corbyn-led Labour Party, but without letting her see the supporting evidence.
Slowly, the scam unravels... it takes time, but eventually, it falls apart.
#OwenJones: "…after a 14yr stretch of #Tory rule, just as #Labour looks set to reconquer No 10 by a landslide, I’ve just emailed the party cancelling my membership.
#Corbyn’s 2017 manifesto, #Starmer declared, was the party’s “foundational document”.
Yet years on, Labour has become a hostile environment for anyone believing in the very policies Starmer relied upon to secure the leadership."
And yet #Labour has a 20+ point lead in the polls & holding for nearly 2 years. Go figure.
#Corbyn & his people have all but gone & they aren't coming back. Let it go Oli... Let it go man...
Go join forces with George Galloway, present your #FarLeft utopia to the electorate & take your chances. The question remains, why are you doing this? Or is it just easier to sit on the sidelines complaining? 🤷🏾♂️
I don’t agree with #Guardian@guardian columnist Polly #Toynbee on much, given her full-throated betrayal of #Corbyn during the #IsraelLobby’s cynical fake #AntiSemitism assault on his leadership and the movement he inspired! Her subsequent sucking up to Sir-Keir-the-#KidStarver and her largely uncritical endorsements of his shifty, vacuous ‘policies’ makes me sick!
Nevertheless, I confess to being wholly in agreement with her assessment, in today’s Opinion piece, of the (let’s face it) totally ‘shite’ state of #English#education at all levels after 14 years of #Tory misrule! I just don’t have any confidence whatsoever that, (if elected in Holborn St Pancras in the next GE) a PM #Starmer will be ambitious enough for our children and young people to implement any of the worthy remedies she proposes for fixing our absolutely dire educational system!
“The #Tories have sucked the joy from the education system. Here are three ways #Labour can bring it back”
77th Brigade, collaborators, quisling traitors, disinformation, misinformation, lies, economic subjugation designed purely to keep Scots in their place and make the devolved government look shabby and not fit for purpose.
@JackTheCat They were (I believe) also involved in the campaign politically to destroy #Corbyn and the movement he inspired during his short tenure as Labour leader! Wherever his personal shortcomings (we’re all human after all), in a supposedly democratic society he deserved a shot at being Prime Minister! That he didn’t was imo down to the #IsraelLobby in cahoots with US & UK intelligence agencies
We could be world leader in a strong immerging market of "green jobs", but why not forsake that long term growth opportunity for short term financial gain?
“In blocking the left from a visible political presence, in stifling its ideas and creativity in a time of crisis, Starmer is leaving the field open to the far right. They will be only too eager to highlight and exploit the deficiencies of a soulless Labour Party @UKLabour, one that pays no more than lip service to resolving #Britain’s problems.
And they will doubtless also scapegoat the usual suspects - not the rich, not those in power, but immigrants, Jews and ‘communists’ - who will be blamed for bringing the UK to its knees.
Ultimately, the smearing of #Corbyn and the Labour #Left will bring about the very things the Labour right and the establishment media claim they seek to avert: Britain will become a darker, more racist, more #authoritarian place.”
The "4 more years" chant of the crowd in response to the #CeasefireNow protestors is absolutely disgusting. Either they support the #genocide or they're too dumb to even listen to or understand what the protestors are protesting.
Then the lying with a straight face of #GenocideJoe about doing everything he could to restrain #Israel all while bypassing the congress to send munitions and weapons to Israel.
2/ #Corbyn became #Labour Leader in 2015. He lost the #Brexit vote in 2017. He lost the 2017 General Election & led Labour to their heaviest General Election defeat in their history in 2019, handing the #CONservatives a HUGE 82 seat majority in a landslide defeat.
Unfortunately, voting in your opponents weakest candidate is a well known, & often practiced political strategy.
Most people don't realise 80% of decisions which affect our daily lives are taken locally. It's just unfortunate that we tend to base our politics on national issues which are usually more contentious
The likes of #BernieSanders & #Corbyn are political firebrands, who the far right media love to target as unhinged idealists
Because they own the media, they control the narrative, so you need to create your own media outlet like MTN
