#TIL that there were two airports so close to each other but located on different sides of the Israeli–Jordanian border that a commercial pilot mistakenly landed in #Aqaba, #Jordan 🇯🇴 instead of #Eilat, #Israel 🇮🇱 in November 1986. At that time, both countries were technically at war with each other.

GMV
And related: Eugene Airport (KEUG) has their main runway (34L) closed today, so the airliners that come in over my house are landing on significantly shorter 34R. Their approach is lower and slower as they give my tall Doug Firs a haircut.
And yes, I stop whatever I am doing to watch each one fly over, because, #Avgeek.
@Av8rdan Nice! I'm under the approach path for my local international airport too, but a bit farther out (they drop their landing gear over me).
However, the bravo for that airport ends at 700 feet over my head, giving way to the delta of the local field I fly out of. So, because of that bravo overhang, the traffic pattern usually goes the other way, but sometimes tower will tell them to take an opposite-handed "low pass", and then I get small craft overflying my house at 5-600 feet for a while.
Today, there was some kind of cool-looking twin-engine taking that course.
Damn, have the chance to do a cost-share flight in the NZ Warbirds Beaver to a nearby fly-in this coming weekend. But my light flu is Covid, so nope! #AvGeek
