Just did my first cross country (120nm) #flight at night in #VFR! KORL to KOCF back to KORL.

Most important lesson I learned? Don't #fly at night under visual flight rules. I should wait until I get my instrument rating if I want to fly at night.

That was fun.
I’m sitting in the FBO because someone must supervise student solos & my student is flying solo. I look outside wondering why he has not taken off yet (he flooded the engine) & I see someone hand propping the 172S.

I RUN outside to see WTF is going on & see another CFI hand propping it to “clear the flooded engine vs using the starter.”

FAA really has to step up on mental health. FAA really has to step up on mental health. Even seeing a counselor is seen as undoable let alone a psychologist.

The FAA needs to change the rule and be 100% clear on a statement that seeing a counselor for any reason can cannot be used as actionable against you in any way. There has to be a first step taken towards mental health and seeing that first level of mental health that counselors provide is so critical.

We can have a rational discussion on what happens if additional steps need to be taken by someone going to a psychotherapist or psychologist. But there NEEDS to be a path forward that is not punitive and has real career options for those who need a medical.

There has to be a way to take a break (if/as needed), get the help, and come back with out undue career damage.

@LouisIngenthron 100% agree. Sadly right now now Mental health issues are treated as a flying death sentence vs a health issue that can be treated and a return to flying path as you said.

I have been thinking about this some time. I want to fly to every airport in WI that is on the WI DOT Passport Program https://wisconsindot.gov/Pages/travel/air/pilot-info/flywi.aspx
But since that is like 125 public use airports I want to be efficient about this. As my job is also starting to look more at AI and RPA I thought this would be a perfect use of computers to help me plan this. But I am new to this I am not sure where to start this permutations problem.

I was hoping to take my husband for a flight in the Cessna 182 tomorrow, but the forecast is now calling for winds gusting to 35 knots, which is a bit sporty for General Aviation, and not allowed by the flying club rules. So we may have mimosas at brunch instead.

So the new flying club member i was working with on getting checked out in our aircraft messaged me and is stopping flying for a bit to center him self. He shot a lot of the videos over the last 4 years with Richard. Feel so bad for him and the AOPA community.

The one thing that bothers me about Twitter's collapse, and private ownership in general, is the number of public service announcements that come through the platform. Severe weather notices, other disaster information, traffic reroutes, etc. Twitter was the best platform for instant notification of this because of its ubiquitous public presence. The Fediverse can and should get there, but in the meanwhile, this Twitter nonsense can affect human lives. #TwitterDown
