Rats dug up 5 of my snow pea plants. Peanut butter baited traps are going back out in specific spots - tonight.
I tied some remaining snow pea plants up. More snow peas will be transplanted in 2 weeks.
My other plant seedlings are slowly growing in one small DIY greenhouse.

Snow pea seedlings.
Tomato, cucumber & cantaloupe seedlings.

Pink purple #DamesRockets are blooming, all around our gardens. Often mistaken with phlox. Phlox has 5 flower petals. Dames rockets have 4. It's an established invasive on Vancouver Island. I leave it as it's not choking out other plants & pollinators love them. I remove many other invasives.

Lacy aka is native to NW Mexico & SW USA - it's in the borage family. I've been using them as part of & as a natural aphids for food plants. This pretty flowering attracts hoverflies & those insects love eating aphids. When it's done flowering - you can cut it down & use cuttings as .

I was behind on seed sowing starts again this past Winter!
I don't transplant any nightshade plants out into beds/pots until at least 2-3 flowers appear on starters. That helps the transplants to do much better - they're stronger if you wait a bit longer to transplant out.

Hopefully I'll get more than 2 cantaloupes this year. Last year was my first time trying to grow cantaloupes. Most of them failed due to neglect. I was too stressed/overwhelmed after my Dad died from long covid cardiac arrest early last June - many of my plants didn't make it.

Side gardens. Our #strawberries patch is bursting with lots of flowers & baby #fruits. I'm patiently waiting for them to mature & ripen up.
We grow strawberries in front & back gardens too. It's one of our fave fruits to eat, so we grow lots of them. We grow new #strawberry #plants to give away & some to sell, from propagating runners.

Got my parents' tax issues sorted out👍

Field work in Shawnigan has been moved to Sunday morning, due to 2 access points temporarily cut off from backroad wash-outs.

Wet roads, crossing lights across old train tracks & some light traffic - along small, suburban municipal road.
All white seagull feather on car dashboard. Windows are covered in raindrops.

#Tulips don't last too long once they start blooming. They're still beautiful while dying off for the season. I like how their foliage changes colours.

Many are going to seed. Lots more are still blooming in other areas of our gardens.

My pansies grow/bloom year round & several burst out blooms in thick of Winter - pushing up through snow - really tough flowering plant.

My false St John's wort has gorgeous - especially after fresh rains. New flower buds will emerge soon.

Some places where crabapple blossoms naturally fell & landed

Pot with banana peel & yard cuttings, I use to make enriched water to fertilize plants, naturally. Banana peels are one of my super boosters - been using them for years to create natural plants boosters.

Adding 2 new varieties to our this year. Royal snap(deep burgundy) & honey snap(pale yellow) - both are edible raw or cooked. I have 6 of each in my starter pots & transplanting them into beds today.

My delayed seeds vid will be up later today 👩‍🌾

All of these food plant seeds are from a local farm/small farms cooperative:

I've supported them for many years. High germination rates on their seeds - rarely have any seeds from them fail.

Done my gardening tasks for the day!

Last photo shows an area that took me 3 yrs to remediate soil on - it's now healthy enough for several plants to grow.

I'm picking up free sheep manure tomorrow from farm friend. Adding to my compost piles. Doing more gardening tasks, after my multiple molars extractions at dentist tomorrow morning.

Sowed larkspur seeds with transplanted borage
Sowed a bunch of food plant seeds today. These are cantaloupe, brandywine tomatoes, soleil orange cherry tomatoes & siletz tomatoes.
This area was full of hard clay & it took me almost 3 years to remediate the soil. It's now healthy enough for several perennials to grow out of.
