🚂 On my way to the #NIXOS Zero Hydra Failures meet-up in #Zürich. I will share some of my experience from the last years on how money flows into the upstream ecosystem from different types of actors with different interests. At the #VintageComputerFestival 2023 in #Zürich, #Switzerland, you could not only see lots of antique Computers but also do stuff like getting text punched into punch tape just like in the olden days.
I wrote a small program in BASIC on my #Commodore#C64 emulator to decode what is punched into the paper tape to make it readable again.
In the film there's this shot of #Zurich where Oppenheimer is supposed to have met Heisenberg. The camera moves towards the University of Zurich (UZH) even though the Polytechnic University (now called ETH Zürich), where also Albert Einstein studied, and where I would have expected a talk by Werner Heisenberg to have taken place, is the building on the left.
Does anybody know if Heisenberg's talk took place at UZH instead of ETH?

Sie war Wegbereiterin der Sozialarbeit und Berufsbildung in der Schweiz und Mitgründerin der Sozialen Frauenschule Zürich welche heute ein Departement der ZHAW ist und sie bis 1934 leitete. 1945 erhielt sie die Ehrendoktorwürde der Universität Zürich.
#onthisday am 09.11.1905 wurde Erika Mann geboren. Die Tochter von Thomas Mann war Schauspielerin, Kabarettistin, Schriftstellerin und Lektorin. Sie gründete 1933 das politische Kabarett Die #Pfeffermühle und floh danach vor den Nazis in die Schweiz wo sie ab 1952 wohnhaft blieb.
In der Stadt #Zürich ist die Erika-Mann-Strasse nach ihr benannt. #ErikaMann#otd
Während es in Zürich an Wohnraum mangelt, stehen viele Parkplätze leer. Denn die Stadt gehört zu den eher Konservativen, was die Pflicht zur Erstellung von Parkplätzen angeht. Diese Politik macht weder sozial noch ökologisch Sinn. Zeit für Änderung.
#onthisday am 07.11.1867 wurde Marie Skłodowska Curie geboren. Die Naturwissenschafterin forschte auf dem Gebiet der Röntgenstrahlung (Radioaktivität) und erhielt 1903 den Nobelpreis für Physik und 1911 den Nobelpreis für Chemie.
In #Oerlikon in der Stadt #Zürich ist die Marie-Curie-Platz nach ihr benannt.
