While I am a proponent of alternatives to x86, I think Intel has finally gotten to a point where they can compete head-on with Ampere Altra and AmpereOne processors.
I'm holding final thoughts until proper testing and benchmarks can be done to see how it compares with AMD's Zen 4c (and soon 5c)-based EPYC processors and Ampere processors.

I'm at the Intel Innovation conference today in San Jose. I expect a coming-out party for Meteor Lake, Intel's next-gen PC processor arriving later this year. Plus lots of chatter about chipmaking, AI, Xeon, development software. It wouldn't be an Intel event without lots of 300mm wafers. 1/n #Intel#processors#semiconductors#chips
Surprise! Intel is working not just on a honking big 144-core Sierra Forest Xeon server processor (as announced), but also a 288-core two-tile model that CEO Pat Gelsinger showed off. 10/n #Xeon#Intel#processors
Guess what? A new possibly very long thread, this time about Athena, my next main #workstation as a successor to Sargo (the current Mac Pro 5,1 setup) based around the #Lenovo#ThinkStation P500. I already bought a low spec P500 and an 18-core #Xeon E5-2699 v3 CPU upgrade; later on I'll get 64 GB of DDR4 ECC memory, a so called "Flex M.2 Adapter" for the special Flex slot on the motherboard and maybe an additional GPU alongside my new Radeon Pro W5700 for KVM's and PCI passthrough.
This poor Mac Mini was born into the world with terrible out of box software*, despite having a very capable ARM processor. This experimental and invasive procedure might help this little Mac go on to live a highly productive and functional life.
A little self-deprecating neuro-diverse humor going on here. 😉
So, the initial results are in. The #Fedora#Silicon box slightly beat the #EPYC box and significantly beat the #Xeon and Raspberry Pis all building against the same #Jenkins build in parallel.
