Finally watched #TheMarvels and I think it was great. It was lovable and fun.
I also think that people considered it a fail for the same reason some hated Turning Red:
Because teenage fangirls are seen as cringe. While teenage fanboys are Spiderman.
While speaking with NME at the 2024 Crunchyroll Anime Awards, Iman Vellani commented on where she would like to see Ms. Marvel go next.
"The Young Avengers would be nice. An Avengers movie in general, standing next to, you know, someone with a hammer, that would be cool. The world is my oyster right now. Same for Ms. Marvel. She’s thriving if I am.”

Finally saw #TheMarvels. Much better than expected - especially Iman Vellani's performance as Ms. Marvel / Kamala Khan, which basically carried the film. Very flimsy plot, even for a Marvel movie. But cats! 🐱
What a lovely and delightful movie.
It was so fun and yes, exciting.
I don't understand why it got such hate...
(No, sadly, I understand... three female leads, two POC among them, plus all other characters are POC too... I hate White America sometimes)
Anyway, I'm such a fan of these three...
And that mid-credit scene. A few months ago, I said that those scenes were getting tiresome and too gimmicky.
Well....I screamed for that one. I literally screamed.
This is the scene I've been waiting for so many years... I know I need to wait a few more years for the pay-off, but still... It happened!
#TheMarvels has issues, but it was still very much a fun ride. Kind of a bummer it flopped because that is gonna unfairly color the movie for years to come.
@SuperSideshow Why don't y'all do shows on #MarvelAssembled? I value @mikebrew and @Jayslacks's thoughts on the background things they talk about. Seems like a perfect fit for you guys! Especially the ONE THING the HEAD WRITER brags about in #SecretInvasion's #Assembled! THIS is why this series SUCKED! 🤬

Last night, we watched The Marvels (Apple VOD), and it was just as fun as when we saw it in theatre.
We watched some of the extras, and I’ll probably do the director’s commentary later. I know it didn’t do well at the box office, but it’s absolutely worth a watch, in my opinion.
I think the best part of it was the kindness the characters showed each other. #TheMarvels
When Dar Benn went to open the "portal" and Captain Marvel flew out to stop her, Ms. Marvel then powered up, "We didn't switch. 1-2-3" her wrists glowed, and THEN when Rambeau flew out to get Captain Marvel, she scooped them and the bangles up and brought them back into the ship.
That's not the way we were taught it works. “Mutant"? Yes!
