Instead of ads for modern products, the billboards are all old 20th century advertisements. Some, for businesses that no longer exist, such as Mark Foy's department store.

The lost art of hand-written public transport signs
From an exhibition at the Sydney Bus Museum:
"Sign writing was once an important trade. The signs needed to direct bus traffic and provide timetable and destination information for Sydney's bus network were formerly painted by hand at Randwick Depot.
"Many of those employed to do this work considered it to be their job for life. Their skill is evident, but it was time consuming and expensive to produce signs this way, and by the 1980s the writing was on the wall for this trade.
"Various printing techniques have replaced the hand painted sign in almost all situations in the bus and transport industry, but if you look around the museum, you will see many examples of their craft."

The sparkling waters hold many untold stories; from the saltwater custodians who’ve cared for this place for thousands of years to the fishermen and boatbuilders whose livelihoods depend on it. We take a closer look at the everyday life of the harbour and uncover a few tales that may surprise you.
This time tomorrow a friend and I will be checking into our accommodation for the Sydney Gay & Lesbian Mardi Gras Parade.
We're marching with Trans Pride Australia. We're float number 5 this year, so shouldn't be a chore to spot us!
Among the things that TPA runs is Friday Night Social, a weekly video chat with participants from across Australia. It's overseen & hosted by blahaj zone's admins @ada & @supakaity . I'm also a regular host, and some of our BZ🦈 community are regular participants.
The parade is being televised in Australia on ABCTV and ABC iview (you can watch from overseas through a IPTV service or use a VPN to access iview). The coverage starts at 7:30pm AEDT [Saturday 8:30am London, 12:30am San Fran, 3:30am NYC].
Go to https://iview.abc.net.au/ to watch the Sydney Gay And Lesbian Mardi Gras 2024 in iview (you'll need to register).
Good morning all you beautiful people. I am back from a fantastic 4 days with family and friends (and seeing a few clients), plus eating amazing food. Nice to be home, but wow it was some trip. I'll share some highlights later.
But mainly the food was excellent in Sydney. One night we went to Tarboosh in Crows Nest - Lebanese to die for. They have just reopened after shifting across the road into a larger and beautiful premises.
Hummus, Tabouli made with quinoa, Eggplant with yoghurt, babaganoush, such soft pita, majadara, .... on and on. They even have a vegetarian banquet, but we I didn't have that this time.... 😄
Highly recommended. The tabouli is not to be missed.
Also while in #Sydney I visited the Louise Bourgeois exhibition in the new part of the Art Gallery (both the exhibition and the new wing are MAGNIFICENT).
