Stefan Corazza, Chef des Roblox Studio, der Firma hinter #Roblox zum Vorwurf, dass Roblox Kinder ausbeute, indem es sich auf die Software-Entwicklungs-Arbeit vieler Kinder stütze:
> Corazza said. "Like, you can say, 'Okay, we are exploiting, you know, child labour,' right? Or, you can say: we are offering people anywhere in the world the capability to get a job, and even like an income. So, I can be like 15 years old, in Indonesia, living in a slum, and then now, with just a laptop, I can create something, make money and then sustain my life.
Das Gespräch lief auch sonst nicht so gut, es musste sich sogar die Pressesprecherin einmischen, nachdem Corazza sich immer weiter in die "Du kannst alles erreichen!"-Romantisierung von #Kinderarbeit verrannte.
Roblox is being sued for using tactics and micro-transactions that target children. Atlanta-based firm Bullock Ward Mason filed a class action lawsuit against the platform alleging it committed labor law violations, false advertising, and fraud by exploiting child labor and offering children "nearly worthless digital currency for their labor." Here's more from Axios.
come on people, how difficult is it to grasp: anyone who intentionally hinders your freedom to run software (we're not talking price here, only the choice!) on a platform that promotes (in many ways) interoperability through open standards and respect of the user… obviously this anyone doesn't want the user to have freedom, interoperability and respect.
Okay, picking up from my video game post yesterday, I'm curious:
When you play video games, rpgs, ect, where you get to choose your character, do you tend to choose a character of the same sex, the opposite sex, non-binary, anthropomorphic, or a mysterious 4th option?
If you want to share screenshots of character builds I would enjoy that!
@RickiTarr I play same gender, females, 80% of the time. It's been #Valheim and #Roblox (I have kids so I'll play with them there.) for a long time now.
I think I must be going a little crazy..... I just heard a very distinctive dial up modem sound.... Maybe 9600 baud.
No radios are on....so it wasn't something sending packet or aprs.
But that's not the crazy part .... No one else in the room heard it, I was the only one.....
It wasnt loud, and didn't last very long. For the life of me I have no idea what would have made the sound...
So I heard the #dialup#modem noise again tonight....this time it was coming out of a game my grand daughter was playing. She said "yes I was playing the game the other day". To which I asked why didn't you tell me when I asked about the modem sound? Then I got the answer we all knew was coming...... "What's a modem sound, that's the lagging sound in Roblox"
Mystery solved. I just didn't know to ask the right question.
