Doing some spooky themed gaming for Halloween this year. I'm about halfway through The Callisto Protocol, which I am enjoying a great deal. The environments are so well done, everything looks great. Definitely one of the better looking games of the generation so far. Sad that it was not well received because I think the devs do a good job with it. Played a little Redfall this weekend two. Performance and texture loading have been addressed by the last two patches. AI seems better as I found Eclipse difficulty a bit harder than I cared for as opposed to when I mostly cruised through on Midnight in my first play through. I will be curious to see if Arkane Austin does any more content releases or if they'll move on once they've shipped the promised new classes or if they'll move on to their next project.
I'd like to read the room on what you folks think of #Redfall so far?
Getting ready to put a review together. I absolutely do not hate this game, in fact, I have had an absolute blast despite the issues.
Would I recommend it? No. Probably not to anyone except for game design folks to show them what it looks like when a game has so much potential and fails to get there in any meaningful ways.
But I do really enjoy the setting. The small bits of lore that really make Redfall feel like this magical suburban town, a setting we rarely get in video games.
But those things are few and far between, and I think I can look past the issues because I've been on the other side of game dev. I know a game looks like trash until those final moments when it all comes together.
Conflicted feelings, which is good. Rarely when putting together a review is it not black and white.
Having some pretty good discussion around #Redfall on our Discord.
Yes, the game is broken. Yes, it is far from perfect. No, it is not the worst game I've ever played. In fact, despite these issues, I have largely enjoyed my time with the game.
It feels like an Early Access title. It also feels like a dated design, that could be improved upon, but it will never become a top-tier game without significant loop restructure.
But the setting. The ancillary writing. These things are super intriguing, and it is not often we get to traipse through a suburban town like this in games.
Redfall is a bad game. But I think I like Redfall. I would never tell someone to buy it, especially at the price it is now.
So after seeing the negative reviews on #Redfall im reluctant to jump in, is anyone currently playing this and having a good time? I have game pass so I wouldn’t be out of pocket but I would also like to enjoy it. #gaming#xbox#xboxGamePass#xboxseriesx
I have committed a crime against the gaming community by preordering Redfall. I do hope it is good and has a good release. I got the game preloaded and ready to go.
