where does this error come from?
In my opinion, one of the great things about #python is that it's simple and straightforward - you don't get unexpected surprises. But there are a few exceptions, as this example shows.😉
You have pieces labelled 1 to N.
You arrange them in a line N times, so that at turn k the piece labelled k is in position k. (so on the first turn piece 1 is at the start, on turn 2 piece 2 is next to that, and so on)
No piece can be in the same position for two consecutive turns.
How many ways of doing this are there?
For N=3, there's only one:
On turn 1, it must be 1xx
On turn 2, it must be x2x and 2 can't be where it was before, so turn 1 was 132 and turn 2 is 321.
On turn 3 it must be 213.
An interesting and original (I think) puzzle from Micky Bullock.
"Last week Negligent Neil calculated length AC. He had forgotten to switch his calculator from radians to degrees but, fortunately, he still got the answer right.
"An inky splodge has now obscured the angle at A. Negligent Neil has forgotten what his answer was for length AC, but he insists it was between 40 cm and 50 cm.
Call of the Sea is one of the best games I've played so far. Beautiful visual and a wonderful story, no doubts. It has optimization issues, but I really enjoyed every moment of it! The puzzles were amazing and so creative! If I could, I would write another ending too, though.

Le long des parois du tunnel, placés uniformément et à intervalles réguliers, se trouvent des interrupteurs qui peuvent être basculés entre deux positions : haut ou bas. Mis à part cela, il n'y a pas d'autres objets dans le tunnel, et lorsque vous marchez le long de celui-ci, vous ne pouvez rien déduire sur la courbure du chemin circulaire.
Vous avez cependant un crayon, du papier et une lampe de lecture, vous pouvez donc noter des nombres sur le papier.
Comment comptez-vous le nombre d'interrupteurs dans le tunnel ?

Ce test a été posé lors d'un examen d'entrée à Cambridge. Ci-dessous se trouvent cinq grilles, chacune avec cinq carrés ombrés. L'une des grilles a les carrés corrects ombrés. Chacune des autres a exactement un carré incorrect.

Someone on mse asked a cute question last night. I answered it, but had a kind of weird experience doing so, and I'm curious if other people will have a similar experience.
The #puzzle isn't so hard, so let me leave it here for a day so that people can have a chance to try it themselves. Then I'd love to use it to start a conversation about two approaches to problem solving in #math

You and your friend play a game. Your friend gets to color each point on the unit circle either red or blue (she has very fine-tipped crayons) and you have to try and find 3 points on an equilateral triangle which get the same color.
You win if you can find such a triangle, and your friend wins if her coloring is able to stump you.
Can you always win? If not, how should your friend color the points to stop you from winning?
Here's a better look at the new word #puzzle that I'm working on which gives an idea of the gameplay. Imagine if you can a hybrid between a cursed #WordSearch and a broken #RubiksCube. The object of the game is to find the 5 hidden 5 letter words but to do so you need to spin the grid. Anyway, if you've got just over a minute spare then this video takes you through roughly how it will work (there's no sound, I'm not a monster).
Any thoughts anyone has gratefully received! I think it's likely still too difficult in it's current incarnation but I have a couple of ideas on how to make it easier if so.

Les nombres de 1 à 9 ont été écrits sur des cartes déposées sur une table, avec une répartition en deux colonnes : celle de gauche totalise 21, et celle de droite 24. Voir figure.
Le jeu est le suivant: il s'agit de déplacer une seule carte pour que les deux colonnes totalisent le même total. Que proposez-vous (et n'hésitez pas à être créatif)❓

I just designed a set of blocks for #3DPrinting "Skyscrapers" / "Towers" puzzles. (Thanks @simontatham for the online version!) They are a little bit like sudoku, wth a tangible third dimension to the reasoning.
Models are available for download with printing instructions at Cults3D, Printables, and GitLab.
I have provided the parametric #FreeCAD model that lets you modify the blocks. Want to make a small set with magnets in the bottom for travel? Want to make a giant set to use at the front of a classroom? Want to make a giant set with huge magnets to use on a magnetic white board at the front of a classroom? Change the parameters, maybe edit the shape of the BottomBody part to accommodate holding a magnet, and you are set! Need help? Ask in the comments.
