Time for #ThrowbackThursday!

Here is the official #MusicVideo of #Lineage2 South-East #Asia for the #Philippines: #Pasan by #Callalily

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TzYhSms3fCc

I used to work for #L2SEA as a content officer, which included #webdevelopment and community forums administration (backend, frontend, managed the community team) Oh, that included the #GuildWars (#GW) 1 Philippine community forums and website.

It was a blast working with the company, with #NCsoft Korea our partner and game developer, my managers and my team, and all the players I've met both online and offline events.

kalanggam, to random

funny to think that just two years ago i was truly getting acquainted with manila sound for the first time, and now i don't hardly listen to anything but disco and opm!

youronlyone,

@kalanggam Do you use #Spotify? I have a #Ppop (Pinoy pop music) playlists. Majority are #OPM, both Pilipino and English.

1: Combined, uncurated: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0Iga6XMrj8UeyOXPwEGyg7?si=26bcc22a44824459

  1. Upbeat/fast, uncurated: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4hRaaQvBKUtyeSNX0ywg6y?si=051d6989c74a4c0a

  2. Mellow/slow, uncurated: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/7KZtePlVhcWmm8vvxRY9LM?si=70ffae0eb8d24070

  3. Originals (all English): https://open.spotify.com/playlist/4SaBGHeVxov7YBZqvNvvm2?si=002b40216efc4c57 (manually checked)

  4. Covers (all English): https://open.spotify.com/playlist/0JCa5IOJ3bGVuAayykBVYU?si=fc0c409978994738

I originally planned to have a #YouTube #Music version, but I rarely use it so I haven't gotten into doing it.

I did not separate Philippine idol music and OPM since both sub-categories have a lot of overlaps anyway. I just call them all as P-pop, the umbrella “catchy” label for Pinoy music.

I hope it's useful. ^_^

@ppop @ppop #Philippines

kalanggam,

@youronlyone @ppop this is beyond useful! my spotify playlist is not as well-organized as yours are, i'll definitely be cross-referencing them to round out my collection ^_^

for a comparison, here's my stockpile: https://open.spotify.com/playlist/1GybidXHeEjQ3ELiZmevHS?si=5fab0b6c2b6740d3

very disorderly but lots of #OPM / #Ppop mixed with some music from the diaspora and a few random additions - Pilipino, English, Binisaya.

haven't quite started on separating them into playlists based around certain moods and vibes yet, although i should probably do that soon instead of constantly skipping songs 😅

youronlyone,

@kalanggam @ppop Oooh! Definitely useful! I don't know much outside of Tagalog and English, and from the diaspora. They are all #Ppop and #OPM!

Thank you very much for sharing. It's great to discover more of our own music, and to share with the world. ^_^

PS If I sound too confusing with my use of the labels, I blogged about the difference between P-pop and OPM here: https://im.youronly.one/snoworld/kb/ppop/difference-ppop-opm-202258/ (with a bit of history).

The short gist is: “P-pop, or Pinoy Popular music, is all music composed or performed by a Filipino.”

While “OPM, or Original Pilipino Music, is every original music composed by a Filipino.”
