Our walk in the freezing fog took about an hour and a quarter but would have been less if I hadn't pulled a calf muscle halfway through. I knew exercise was bad for you. Still, we're at the brewery now (Urban Island) so let's see if alcohol can work its magic on my leg.
@beersofmastodon Rhubarb cider for Marie, and an Urban Graffiti black IPA/stout for me. Both firm favourites for us.
For #ThrowbackThursday here's something of possible interest to #Portsmouth people too. This is a picture of workers digging up or laying road outside what was Landport Drapery Bazaar (later to become part of Commercial Road). One of the workers there is my wife's grandad. I love the look of the people here; men in flat caps, women in cloche hats. That would seem to date this photo to around 1930 but I can't be sure.

HMS Warrior is a 40-gun steam-powered armoured frigate built for the Royal Navy in 1859–1861. Warrior and her sister ship HMS Black Prince were the first armour-plated, iron-hulled warships, and were built in response to France's launching in 1859 of the first ocean-going ironclad warship, the wooden-hulled Gloire.
First time I shot a Portsmouth round (60cm at 20 yards) yesterday. Trying to get a score to send in for the #virtualarcheryleague managed 470 which is a bit better than I expected with my new Baltic Bows Erglis longbow. I guess that means we are getting used to each other already.
Now trying the third of the new ales here at Urban Island. This, on the right, is Black Knight, an oatmeal stout brewed with fuggles and liquorice root. And it's bloody gorgeous. The liquorice root adds a slight sharp edge to the smooth mouth-feel you normally get from an oatmeal stout. Balanced beautifully. The other pint is Dolly's Special Brew, a classic here at the brewery, and this year it's been fined for clarity.
Popped up to our local brewery, Urban Island, where they've brewed three new ales this week. We're here to try them all and we've started with the two hazy pale ales. On the left is Kissing The Boulevard made with Sabro, Citra, and Mosaic hops. On the right is Tic Tac, brewed with El Dorado, Simcoe, Citra, and Cashmere. KTB probably the easier to drink.
We had quite a #lightning show to the east of the #IsleofWight last night.
My husband found it virtually impossible to photograph as most of the lightning was shrouded in the clouds. Lots of flashes but few forks to capture.

Thing I now have that I'm never sharing with people who don't already know me in real life: a selfie with Norman Cook. Bumped into him on way back from the pub and checking out the new street art in Portsmouth. Swine wouldn't let me take a photo unless I was in it.

We ended up going as a family to this, which is a rarity as gig going is very much my thing. It was great as Hovertravel ran late night hovercrafts back to the Island, so no hotels were involved for a change!
One of the most engaging games recently, Return of the #ObraDinn. Beautifully done, with a surprise #Taiwan connection too.
What's more, it does take 8+ hours to complete and still more than 44% people did finish it! That speaks to how well put together it is - challenging but doable and makes stay because it's interesting!
It took me almost 11h, and even an hour before that I wasn't sure if I can do it, but if most people did, I might as well try!
@imrehg I got this as a present from a very good pal. I keep meaning to come back to it and finish it but life gets in the way (more specifically #davethediver). I was visiting the #MaryRose ship in #Portsmouth the other day and it felt like I was back in the game.
