I love all the goofy images I’ve been able to add to my little weather app, but the size was starting to get out of control. I got the idea on Friday to try converting the images from PNG to JPEG to see what the difference would be.

So far in my testing I’ve been able to go from an app size of 141 MB to 48 MB. 🤯

For my use case I can’t tell a difference in image quality either.

@MuseumShuffle @jordibruin there’s also webp, small + alpha channels. Does need another dependency though so for this case probably not worth it.

There are currently about 3 million E-bikes in the Netherlands. The total yearly electricity consumption of these E-bikes is about equal to the annual power generated of one offshore wind turbine.
The number of E-bikes has increased significantly in recent years. Offshore wind turbines have become bigger as well. As a coincidence, the similarity is true for a number of years now.

First time I shot a Portsmouth round (60cm at 20 yards) yesterday. Trying to get a score to send in for the #virtualarcheryleague managed 470 which is a bit better than I expected with my new Baltic Bows Erglis longbow. I guess that means we are getting used to each other already.

10 ends (sets of 6 arrows) with some test shots at the begining on a new target. The sights were not changed. recurve Olympics style bow. Shooting for VAL http://www.virtualarchery.org.uk/ distance is 20 yards ~18.3 m

the further I pull back the more my arrows go to the right. I am right handed. I rediscovered at least one back muscle I had forgotten to use.

@amunizp yeah I’m on the list! No traditional recurve so I’m gonna try for Barebow 😛 usually shoot 40cm so I will need to get some scores for 60 when I’m at the club again. Still have some weeks though should be good 👍

    @alper aha. The upper body strength will give you a bit of an edge and less likeliness to injure yourself. You’ll still have to build up the muscles specifically for drawing a bow though. I prefer 3D archery myself. Combining walks through the forest with the occasional target practice is perfect. If you’d want to compare it’s more like golf (but more fun obviously) vs kyudo which is more like martial arts.

    @alper are you in Arnhem right now or still Berlin? Your location might dictate the forms of archery available to you, you always need a club or society that can at least teach you the basics.
