“Voting Scottish [sic] Labour means booting out this rotten Tory Government, maximising Scotland’s influence with Scottish [sic] Labour MPs in government and delivering the change that Scotland needs."
"Westminster isn't working for Scotland, even the Labour party is having to admit that essential truth.
"What the Labour party still won't admit is that a centre-right Westminster government headed by Keir Starmer – a government committed to Conservative spending limits and refusing to raise taxes on the wealthy – won't work for Scotland either."
"#Scotland wasn’t mentioned once in [UK] Labour’s big pre-election pitch today [16/5/24].
"[Neither in] Starmer’s 2,631 word speech. Nor the hefty 5,724-word press release which included comments from the likes of Ed Milliband and Yvette Cooper.
"... neither Wales nor Northern Ireland were mentioned either."
"Starmer... said he was delighted with [Natalie Elphicke's] defection, telling reporters yesterday it showed his party was "the party of the national interest"."
"Labour has picked a councillor from an English council 500 miles away to be the party’s candidate in a Scottish constituency.
"Elizabeth Carr-Ellis has been picked to stand in the new Angus and Perthshire Glens constituency at the upcoming General Election – despite currently being a councillor in Canterbury, Kent."
Right on Keir. Your primary thoughts seem to be ending divisions by centralising power in Westminster and denying process and control to the other three countries in this ‘so precious Union’ - one that is long past its use by date.
You don't care about or even care to represent Scottish interests - what is nonsense really about?
Only you're ending "division" by blocking the mandates of a majority of Scots for #indyref2 "forever" while offering no real alternative to rancid Thatcherism and refusing to say under which circumstances Scots might democratically disengage from your "voluntary union".
There is some irony at listening to Starmer urging an election to "Let the people decide", the same Starmer who does not recognise Scotland's right to have a referendum to "Let the people decide". Yes, indeed, we had one in 2014 but materially, the UK has changed. We have elections every five years yet Scotland is continually denied democracy by, in effect, a foreign country, England. Is the union voluntary, yes it is, how then does Scotland leave ?
It's also humiliating because Starmer's on record as supporting the right to #indyref2 prior to the last Holyrood election and then subsequently stating he would never support it.
The presumption, contempt and bare faced mendacity are off the scale.
Why anybody in their right mind would still trust #Captain_UTurn beggars belief.
"Sarwar and his deputy Jackie Baillie had photographs of themselves with #WASPIWomen “plastered all over social media” - making their abstention “just criminal, really”."
The National: "Labour MSPs believe UK bosses ordered #WASPI vote abstention."
"[UK] Labour [in Scotland] MP Michael Shanks has refused to back his nominal leader Anas Sarwar over calls for the UK to stop exporting weapons to Israel."
The Tory candidate for Mayor is an outright fascist and xenophobe (they often come in pairs I understand). Surely she was selected as a bard joke - after all they got away with the oaf as mayor before….
Another racist in "Scottish" Labour has been identified on social media, this time a candidate for a Westminster seat.
It looks like "Labour" is comfortable selecting Westminster candidates who'd be more at home with the Faragistes, or "30p Lee" and the other knuckle draggers in the Reform Party.
"In my letter... I called upon the UK Government to ban the license of arms exports from the UK to Israel, given the risk of increasing bloodshed caused by Israel’s threat to carry out a ground offensive into Rafah.
“I note that I have yet to receive a response and you have taken no such action, despite the death-toll continuing to increase."
Letter from Humza Yousaf to Rishi Sunak today.
(Ignoring letters from First Ministers is an integral part of the British government's "respect agenda".)
