Thinking about modding the #OptiPlex a little.
Got a small fan here which I could mount and also have a open case to make swapping out SSD's easier.
Those small systems sure are fun to play with. 😎

Little upgrade on the SFF as a desktop:

Amazing experience! 😎
The system uses roughly around 20 - 30 Watts under normal desktop usage - peaking at 60 when the load is high.
Not going back to the anytime soon... just don't need the power.
Besides: It is quiet and cool - like that a lot.

Running with on it and also have two vm's that I run most of the time.
Also: There is a spare NVMe in there... room for more fun 😎

The little runs really well. It sure packs a punch and is quiet at that.
for sure runs on everything.

fun :debian:

Daily driver is now a 7060 Micro. 😉
In the end all I need is and a good editor like - and of course my trusty :debian:
This system has also a NVMe inside which can be used for another OS of choice.. more on that later 😎

If I want to do some gaming I can fire up the system - but that is quite rare already.

So, saving energy and getting work done is a good deal 🙂

Specs:
i7-8700 (12)
32GB RAM
2TB SSD / 256GB NVMe

A little in a struggle currently....
I want to also setup a Hypervisor for my
Got a here with a i7 6700 and 32GB of RAM (Micro form factor).

Maybe I'm overthinking here a lot... but I try to hold down the electricity cost as much as possible.

At the moment the is at roughly ~35W

Would you guys/gals add a machine or would you rather not?
Any feedback is welcome 🙂

Pondering on what to use as a daily driver..

#ThinkPad or #OptiPlex

System will run #Debian :debian:

(Both systems save me quite some electricity)
Good thing about the #OptiPlex is that I just need to mount my SSD drive and be done.

I think I switch over to my or the for daily usage.
I mostly only do some reading/coding. Running the system is quite hefty for this purpose.
In the end I can just boot the system when I need.

Project for tomorrow 😎

In general I think it is more practical to use what one needs given the situation.
For light work I do not need to have 24 cores... seems overkill. (And the electricity bill goes up)

What daily drivers do you guys/gals use? 🙂

I do have to say, one thing I personally enjoy is fiddling with smaller systems.
May it be a or a or maybe a - there is so much one can do without spending loads of money on electricity!
And every time I found myself using a smaller system I deploy either a or a distro.
My needs are not huge.
Some programming, web surfing and sometimes a video.

Looking forward to using my newly purchased laptop 😎

And of course: It will run a free operating system! 🙂

Preparing a #hypervisor later on. #Proxmox on a #OptiPlex 7070 SFF.
Time to do some #vm fun 😎

Considering using my #OptiPlex 7070 as a #Hypervisor with #Proxmox 😎

...now I only need to convince myself to actually do it. 😂 (Considering the current energy prices)

Just saw that my #OptiPlex 7070 SFF features two DP connections on the back....
This makes it possible to also use that machine as my desktop in case I want to have some variety 🙂

Tonight, Saturday 15th July 2023, at 8:00pm Eastern US, Solus is going to be the Distro Exploration.
I have been personally invited to be on the Zoom call which shall be part of the YouTube stream.
It would be great to have others of the Linux community there, especially Solus users.

Although I have 4.4 installed on a 15 laptop, which updated from 4.3, I went ahead and installed Solus 4.4 on a Dell 755 Desktop.
Smooth as a hot knife through butter!
No issues at all.
Least I can say tonight that I actually did install 4.4 from ISO.

Chose Mate on this spare machine, so I can follow the eventual process to out of pure interest.
