I've been using @organicmaps instead of #OSMand for a while now, and I like it! Still have OSMand on my phone for advanced features, but I like the simplicity of #OrganicMaps for navigation. Biggest plus: Search just works.
Dans #OsmAnd, on peut obtenir la distance entre nos 2 doigts que l'on pose sur la carte ; ou bien la distance entre notre position et un lieu de la carte.

Kann auch tracks aufzeichnen, Streetviewbilder von Mapillary anzeigen, diverseste Kartenstile zur Wahl und die Karten sind bis in kleine Details konfigurierbar. Und finktionier selbstverständlich offline
I wonder, has anyone got any ideas on how to increase the accuracy of Google Maps when using it to get walking directions to somewhere? almost every time I use it, it tells me to turn too soon at an intersection, when I'm still almost twenty feet or so from said intersection, and it sometimes tells me I've arrived at a destination before I've actually arrived. I've learned to compensate, but it'd be nice if it'd tell me to turn when I'm actually at the corner rather than before, and that I've arrived at a destination when I'm actually ready to turn into the doorway, rather than it doing it in such a way that I have to shoreline with my cane for ten or so feet.
My sister-in-law rode her bike to a new destination up Hamilton mountain. No problem, she thinks, worst case I push my bike up the hill if it's too hard. Google cycling directions sent her up THESE STAIRS. And yes, she carried her backpack and bike all the way up
@realsimon@artusamak Somewhere in between those there are Every Door @everydoor , OrganicMaps @organicmaps , and #OsmAnd (which still has no Fediverse presence afaik). Have a look and maybe you'll find the right app for your niche of #OpenStreetMap contributions. :)
I was on a bus today and it went past a shop I want to buy from things from. I looked up the shop in OSMAnd+ (installed from F-Droid) - with no net connection - and not only did the map have the correct shop, in the correct place, clicking on it showed me a link to the website.
Frage zu #osmand und #openstreetmaps. Kann mir jemand erklären, warum OsmAnd diesen Feldweg hier in die normale Routenplanung auf dem Fahrrad einbezieht? Hab ich da in der App was falsch eingestellt? https://www.openstreetmap.org/way/70081265
Weil, im Sommer ist das alles zugewachsen und man sieht noch zwei Meter festgetretenen Schlamm, der sich zwischen Büschen verliert. Da fährt kein normaler Mensch mit dem Rad einfach so rein.
@DontMindMe Depending on what I want to do (like hiking, biking or driving a car) I prefer OrganicMaps (@organicmaps) or #OsmAnd. Both great apps with the former being a bit more lightweight with a common interface and the latter being a bit more tailored towards users who like to tweak everything in the software they use. However, both allow for quick #OpenStreetMap edits on the go, so they're both great for that. :)
Ça y est : j'ai changé de tel et j'ai fait le grand pas pour degoogliser à fond : @zaclys et #k9 pour les mails #nextcloud via #zaclys pour le cloud #fdroid pour le store (et #aurora pour 2/3 app) #osmand pour la carto #tusky pour masto #qksms et #signal pour les messages

#osmand est une appli grandiose, mais pour la navigation au quotidien, il faut vraiment essayer @organicmaps

#OSMand nutze ich viel, da es auch bei #FDroid verfügbar ist und im Gegensatz zu #GoogleMaps auch offline gut funktioniert. Die Karten können auf SD-Karte kopiert werden (schont den internen Handyspeicher).
Tipp: aktuell nicht benötigte Karten deaktivieren (App startet schneller und spart Datenvolumen bei Updates) 😏

Das Tolle ist, dass du im Gegensatz zu #streetcomplete auch eigeninitiativ Finge eintragen kannst, also nicht nur Fragen beantworten, bspw. für Reparaturständer, Fahrradläden oder Ladestationen…
