I never want to get a notification when a poll I voted in ended. That has nothing to do with me so I don't understand why it shows up in my notifs. It feels like spam. Is there a way to disable this? #Notifications#Polls#Mastodon
8 ways Android handles notifications better than iOS
Android may have the wrong colour bubbles for messaging, but its users can at least pat themselves on the back for having better managed notifications (those things that can really irritate a person if not managed properly).
◉ Fast Tracker — my simple, reliable and privacy-centric Intermittent Fasting Tracker — has been updated with Siri/Shortcuts Integration, Fasting Zone and Fast Reminder Notifications, and more.
It's now easier than ever to start and stop a fasting session… you don’t even have to open the app!
Man, I am currently in the process of setting up a new phone and it feels like every app wants notification permissions. I would turn off ALL notifications permanently if I could.
Anyone know why #GNOME exposes a list of applications on the lock screen?
It’s not even the correct list of running applications, you can’t do anything with them, and I’m not sure I understand the logic behind this design decision at all.
I'm not receiving at least SOME notifications, from accounts I have on notifications on other smaller instances. Other instance is on 4.2.5.
Web client.
UPDATE: it appears that at least some notifications from this instance (local) are still making it through. And boosts/replies too. But not from at least one smaller instance as noted above.. (all?)
I was wondering why there were no notifications on my Mastodon the whole day. Turns out that the notification settings had been changed by my mastodon.social instance. 🔔
Probably because mastodon.social is where @Gargron tests the latest Mastodon changes, even nightlies. Some recent change must've modified the notification settings. IAC I was able to reenable them and saw all the missed notifications from today.
"Got an upcoming doctor's appointment? Perhaps a prescription to refill or a dental cleaning? Odds are your phone has been pinging away with incessant reminders about it.
Why it matters: It's not just you. There's a growing flood of emails, texts, phone calls and other prods to patients that — beyond just potentially becoming another digital annoyance — may make them tune out the important stuff."
This must be some setting but I feel like most of the time I get a notification on my #Samsung Flip5 is when I touch it or pick it up. Rarely do they seem to come up when the device is just sitting there…🤔
It should be illegal to send an email saying "you have notifications" without telling you at least a high level summary of what those notifications are.
Linear is very guilty of this, which is kind of ironic because this was one of the most annoying parts of Atlassian products.
Given we now know governments are spying on people using encrypted messaging through #notifications (to get data or metadata, based on what the specific service sends), the “turn on notifications” prompt in #Signal not having a “no” option but stating “we’ll remind you again later” and continuing to prompt you at regular intervals is now less of a dark pattern to increase usage and more of a #security issue that should be fixed right away.
