Does anyone know if it's possible to set up notifications for a particular hashtag that I follow? I've done it for accounts but can't see how to do it for hashtags... #mastodon#fediverse@feditips
I'm a working, widowed, single mum of 2 young boys. I live in a rental flat that has become unsafe with black mould and poor heating. Without help, I'm stuck here.
I'm trying to raise enough for a deposit on a new place. I can't do it alone.
Can you please help by sharing this or donating a little?
Tip: there is now paint that slows that mold down and greatly reduces your exposure. Depending how long you have to endure your conditions you may have to reapply but it does help.
You go to the doctor's where you're told about a new drug, not because it's supposed to make you feel better, but because Big Pharma's rep has promised the doctor to pay all their medical expenses.
No, this isn't the plot for Pain Hustlers, the Emily Blunt and Chris Evans Netflix drama. My mum's a nurse. I've seen this firsthand. It's gross. It should also be illegal.
One of the things that make #Mastodon so satisfying in my opinion is the (chronological) determinism of the timeline. If I re-open the timeline after a while, I can be sure to find some post I saw back in its place, instead of the bunch of randomly selected recommendations that other social media picks nowadays.
It's more like a log of actual social human interactions than any other platform, not to mention its content quality being way higher without "viral" recommendations
For [mainline] #Mastodon users who want to be able to follow the “Local” and/or “Federated” timeline(s) of a different instance without creating yet another account can use the #Phanpy frontend.
More info:
There are 3 different layouts. In my screenshots, I used the multi-column layout to demonstrate how I'm seeing the different instances' “Local” and “Federated” timelines.
In addition to the above, you can also see the following features:
Auto-translate
Highlights
Threads
CW
Click to refresh (or scroll to top to refresh) -- a setting
Dark mode
Following 5 hashtags in one column (similar to Mastodon's default frontend)
ABC #australia writes a long article on how toxic and dangerous #twitter has become.
Yet continues to give option to share on Twitter, without acknowledging #fediverse options.
A close-up digital watercolor painting captures a vibrant pink geranium against a serene white sky. The delicate petals and rich hues create a striking contrast in this botanical masterpiece.
A delicate pink geranium blooms against the pristine white sky, radiating an ethereal glow. Its petals appear almost translucent, creating a serene and high-key contrast of purity and softness.
The #Mastodon web UI built-in image viewer is pretty nice nowadays:
Click double arrow icon in the top right to few full-size image (when available)
Pan around
Click image to toggle visibility of controls
Hover for ALT text (which often also serves as a caption)
It can be easy to miss the double arrow icon in the top right though -- if you've never noticed it, be aware when looking at nice photos, drawings or posters that there's often a higher resolution view available!
@eloquence
Agree, though some things I hate about it:
top left and bottom left overlay icons often obscure important features in the image such as a caption
if I click to read an image with small text it displays for long enough to start reading and then goes blank briefly and I have to start reading again
sometimes an image is visible but I want to see it larger, but when I click it disappears and takes ages to load if ever. And I think it's gone when I go back 🤦♂️
Hm, that's odd, I can't reproduce any of those issues. For the first one I don't know which icons you're talking about - there's nothing in the top left for me.
Which browser are you on, out of curiosity? And this is in the Fosstodon desktop web view?
