I’m guessing this is the reason #Trump lost his shit today.
He is so emotionally stunted, if we can even attribute a megalomaniacal narcissistic sociopath w/ emotions, that he can’t separate his anger at #MarkMeadows / fear about what it would mean for his multiple criminal indictments that his closest WH adviser flipped on him, from any given moment in the day.
If #MarkMeadows is now testifying the opposite of what he said in his book, doesn't that mean the publishers of his book can now sue him, since he just rendered it a valueless bunch of bullshit
I’ll tell you this, nobody had to talk #MarkMeadows into cooperating. No arm twisting there. As soon as he found out #CassidyHutchinson flipped he was ready to camp out overnight waiting for the Special Counsel to open up like he was trying to get Springsteen tickets in 1985
Me: I don't know if you're w/ me, but Meadows seems the most shameless weak kind of "man" -always playing all sides to save his own face (a face that has alcoholic written all over it, btw)
On the call, #Trump mentioned allegations of fraudulent ballots hidden in suitcases, which the #DOJ had already taken "a hard look at" & debunked, per #BillBarr's testimony.
#MarkMeadows told #SpecialCounsel#JackSmith's team that, around that time, he often wanted to #resign over concerns that the way certain allegations of #fraud were being handled could have a negative impact -- but didn't because he wanted to help ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
Aided by by a #ghostwriter, #MarkMeadows published his book, "The Chief's Chief," nearly a year after #Trump left office.
"[T]he sheer volume of falsehoods that have been published about the president's time in the White House is astounding," the book says. "I consider this book a small opportunity to correct the record."
#Trump even promoted the book, issuing a stmnt in Dec 2021 saying it "rightfully spends much time talking about the large-scale Election Fraud that took place ...aka the Crime of the Century."
But sources told ABCNews that when speaking w/ #SpecialCounsel#JackSmith's team, #MarkMeadows conceded that he doesn't actually believe some of the statements in his book. (probably more than “some” of them.)
#MarkMeadows told investigators he believes the #DOJ was taking allegations of #fraud seriously, properly investigating, & doing all they could to find legitimate cases of fraud -- & that he relayed all that to Trump a few weeks after the election.
Similarly… despite #Meadows telling investigators that #Giuliani never produced #evidence of significant fraud in the election, his book refers to Giuliani's efforts to expose "the fraud, & the dirty tricks on election night."
"The people who rigged this election knew that eventually, these irregularities would come to light ... [So] they …attacked anyone who dared ask questions…" #MarkMeadows’ book claims.
#Meadows went even further while promoting his book on #RightWing#media in Nov 2021. When asked …if he believed the outcome of the #2020election was fraudulent, Meadows responded, "I do believe that there are a number of fraudulent states ... I've seen at least illegal activity in Pennsylvania [&] in Georgia"
Under the penalty of #perjury, #MarkMeadows offered a vastly different assessment to #JackSmith's investigators, telling them he's NEVER seen any #evidence of #fraud that would undermine the election's outcome.
The final report by the #January6thSelectCmte accused #Meadows of incl’g "a number of intentional falsehoods" in his book….
