Man, playing them back to back (especially in reverse order), it's stunning how much better We Love #Katamari is over Katamari Damacy
everything was spiced up, a true sequel treatment
The end of level dialogs, the game over, the level NAMES, levels were given 10x more personality, you actually see real 3D planets based on your skill/what was rolled up instead of a set static image, levels SO much better, much less dead space
Live stream TONIGHT!!! For real this time. I got heat, I got internet, I got Katamari. Let's go, fantastic series if you've never at least seen it, you really should tune in:
Tomorrow at 7PM Central we're streaming Katamari Damacy Reroll!!
I love this series and can't wait to share it with everyone on stream! If you've never played it, you're in for a treat.
Always heard good things of the #Katamari#games, and seeing the art/screenshots of the games gave me some #Pikmin vibes so I've always wanted to try it. Recently bought a copy for the #NintendoSwitch for quite cheap, then also decided to buy an older release in the series, #KatamariDamacyREROLL for a lot cheaper during the recent #Steam sale.
Booted into it, loved the art style, LOVED the soundtrack but my god was it a weird ass #game, in a very good way. My only complaint is that I freaking suck at it lololol even after going through the tutorial, I still have no idea how to control the camera and that bit is pretty much 99% of the game. I'll have to dedicate a lot more of my focus to the game if I'm gonna ever play it again.
Is there an enhanced/ideal version of #Katamari Damacy?
It occurs to me I've played We Love Katamari (via Reroll+), Katamari Forever which I think is it's own thing yes? and Touch My Katamari but I don't think I've played a direct remaster/remake of the first one
Flow is a critical aspect of a game and I've rarely seen a game do so well to build you up then put you in a final level when you're truly ready and when it will hit the strongest as #katamari
When you're finally at the last As Large As Possible level, and that music kicks in...you're ready.
People can call Dark Souls hard and all, but #Katamari is the only game I've ever played (and that is a LOT of games) that fucking ATTACKS you on the game over screen!
Your game honestly kind of needs not-as-good music for some parts of the game
#katamari has plenty of tracks I'm not as big a fan of...but when you finally get to the big "make a skyscraper katamari" level and Katamari On The Rocks/Swing start playing 👌👩🍳 💋
I grabbed We Love #Katamari in the current #steam sale. Really loved the first one, so picking this up eventually was a certainty.
This game is pure unfiltered joy. The concept may be very simple, but it is just so satisfying, to roll around hoovering up anything in your way and watching your katamari grow from a marble to a natural disaster.
Playing it makes me feel like a child again :cat_uwu:.
@miona@NullNoMore My pick for this week's #VGMWednesday might be a bit more "Big Band" than jazz for the #JazzCovers theme, but I can't pass up the opportunity to boost this amazing cover of Lonely Rolling Star by 8-Bit Big Band.
