Hey, does anyone know of any good books on Hammer Studios, particularly their gothic horror movies? I’m looking for in-depth material on the studio, the films, the actors… need not be comprehensive, but I’m not interested in simply a bunch of film synopses. Other than the autobiographies of Cushing and Lee I’m not really finding anything available that looks good. #horror#Books#horrormovies#Hammerhorror#bookstodon#HorrorFam#HorrorBooks#Dracula#Frankenstein#Gothic#gothichorror
I'm getting on. Hundreds of years ago, when i was young, late night tv movies in Straya frequently featured a slew of fabulous old 60s/70s B-grade Pommy horror films, v often featuring Peter Cushing, Christopher Lee, Vincent Price &/or John Carradine.
Today when i saw this [serious] news headline, my mind's eye swapped over the first two words, & thus took me right back to those fun / corny nights of yore.
The Hammer FRANKENSTEIN films are my favorite horror franchise; largely based on the performance of their star, Peter Cushing, as Baron Frankenstein. Equally adept at playing the Baron as an amoral anti-hero or outright villain, he always commanded the viewer's attention.
On what would have been his 110th birthday, tell me, what is your favorite Peter Cushing film?
