@james@actuallyautistic This is a #fawning behavior! Common in marginalized people who've felt vulnerable and had to defuse situations where people might get furious for no reason. It's one reason why people tend to laugh even in horrifying situations like coercion from predatory people- their body is hoping they can reduce how much pain they'll get from the abuser by playing along.
