Well #Trillanes isn't really wrong. #Duterte and his gang of #drugwar criminals are perhaps the most dangerous #fifthcolumn the #Philippines has faced yet since #WW2. Worse than the Japanese #fifthcolumnists in #Davao (which funnily enough is the same territory the Duterte clan has firm control of, like a fiefdom). But instead of working for the Japanese invaders they're working for the #Chinese communists this time.
The main collaborators being officials within #PNP leadership isn't really surprising either, because Duterte pampered the #police so hard (for example promising not to hold them accountable for clear-cut abuses of power in the drug war) during his 6-year rule.
It seems like #Marcos' strengthening of the alliance with the #US has convinced the #AFP not to defect to the Dutertes though. The Philippine #military is rabidly pro-American and Duterte had a hard time trying to balance having a pro-#China policy and appeasing the soldiers. :seija_coffee:

They brought 22 crates of cash valued at $717 million, 300 crates of jewelry of unknown value, $4 million worth of unset precious gems, $200,000 in gold bullion, $1 million in Philippine pesos and deposit slips for $124 million in banks in the Cayman Islands. Plus, countless crates of shoes. The Marcos’s hold the Guinness record for the largest ever theft from a government. Their son, Bong Bong Marcos, is the current president of the Philippines. His vice president is Sara Duterte, daughter of the Philippines last president, the violently repressive Rodrigo Duterte, who oversaw the assassinations of well over 1,000 street children and alleged drug dealers. Under Ferdinand Marcos, there were over 3,000 documented extrajudicial murders, 35,000 documented victims of torture and tens of thousands of people imprisoned.

Though I was living and working in Manila during the first 3 years of Duterte's term and was reading about this in the media as it was happening, this telling of those #EJK in her memoir really brought back to me the flagrant, horrific cruelty. #TootSEA
