Finished #BlossomsInAdversity. Loved it. Would have loved 15 more minutes of the ending and watching people react to the big reveals (hi! the random beggar your family took in is now emperor!), but very good all around. Very cathartic.
I need more recs for happy, found family, make-you-smile-and-warm-your-heart type of dramas. I don't mind murder and chaos as long as my people have a happy ending. Recent likes have been #BlossomsInAdversity, #StoryOfKunningPalace, I also liked #JoyOfLife & #MeetYourself.
Decided to watch “To the Wonder” next 🌸 It is a short drama, but sounds promising. It is about a Han girl meeting a man from a different ethnic group in China.
Just finished watching “Blossoms in Adversity” with Hu Yitian and Zhang Jingyi 🌸 It was such a gentle drama about a young woman and her family who experience hard times, but who manage to thrive in the end because of their humanity and business skills. The main couple has a sweet vibe and their love feels real even without much skinship.
Damn it, I can't move on from #TheLegendOfShenLi . The only drama that did that to me was Mysterious Lotus Casebook. Took me weeks to get over that one.
It's a little puzzling cos Shen Li had a lot of flaws that I disliked, but the positives overpowered it. I loved Lin Geng Xin's performance (oddly was warned that he's a bad actor) and loved his character's Xing Zhi's arc so, so much. I resonate with his struggle with loneliness and desire for a simple life with loved ones.
Actor Xu Kai's promised he’d do a dance that his fans demanded if his latest #cdrama series ‘Best Choice Ever' reached 30k on the ‘Heat’ Index on Tencent : r/CDrama
Am watching "Blossoms in Adversity" 🌸 with Zhang Jingyi and Hu Yitian. It is such a gentle drama full of ordinary life in the midst of a palace drama. The relationships feel real which makes the stakes high. Didn't expect that it would be this good...
Am I a sucker for haughty, ever-perturbed-yet-amused Xu Kai? Yes. And he's some kind of uber-rich snooty heir who (probably) falls in love with a middle-class lady?
The #Netflix drama's depiction of China is, well, problematic. How did the people of China react to it? In this issue I highlight what Chinese viewers think about the 3 Body Problem.
Just finished Judge Dee’s Mystery. So uneven. Largely an episodic mystery-of-the week type thing. The story arc is somewhat undeveloped. It’s generally watchable, though. Visually lush. Somewhat romantic at times. Fight scenes are often cartoonish and unnecessary. #JudgeDee#CDrama
Have just begun watching “The Spirealm” with Huang Junjie and Xia Zhiguang 🌸 It’s not my usual genre, but since it is perhaps a Chinese BL or danmei, it is rather remarkable that is is airing at all. The idea is that people are drawn into a computer game where they can die in the real world if they die in the game. There is suspense and a delicate chemistry between the leads.
