Hold the phone — Joshua #Steinglass, a prosecutor, says the prosecution will seek to bring back a witness who works at #CSPAN & testified earlier, so that he can #verify the stills.
#Merchan asks when the witness, who does not live in NYC, could return.
#Blanche, who normally tries to slow things down to delay & draw out the trial, complains that prosecutors are doing just that w/their effort to recall this witness. He says it’s “patently unfair.”
#Steinglass is obviously frustrated w/Justice #Merchan’s ruling, saying he doesn’t understand why they have to jump through so many hoops just to show that #KeithSchiller & #Trump were together that night. He asks to bring the #CSPAN witness in again. Merchan asks Trump atty #Blanche if he objects to the prosecutors bringing in the CSPAN witness after the defense rests. Blanche does protest.
Justice #Merchan suggests adjourning until tomorrow so prosecution can bring the #CSPAN witness back on video stills #evidence.
Defense: "That's not the way a trial is supposed to work..."
Prosecution says CSPAN will make the witness — #RobertBrowning, who is executive director of archives at the network — available to testify at 9:30 AM tomorrow.
So to be clear, we will not hear from the #CSPAN witness again. We are continuing w/the prosecutors’ re-direct of #MichaelCohen, who is back on the stand. The photo of #KeithSchiller & #Trump on 24 Oct 2016, which is what the lawyers were arguing about, is immediately entered into #evidence.
Note the jury is never present / privy to these types of arguments. They just hear Susan Hoffinger, the prosecutor, entering the stills into evidence.
But that's largely print media. #CSPAN isn't generally included in basic streaming packages from what I can tell. And they only cover political events, so no mass shooting press conferences or anything like that. It's good to have some audiovisual source for those events as they happen, even if it's somewhat biased.
Testimony started w/a bang last week as David #Pecker, the fmr publisher of The #NationalEnquirer, said that he had entered into a secret plot w/ #Trump & #MichaelCohen to #CatchAndKill negative stories about Trump as he ran for president in 2016. #GaryFarro, the 3rd to testify, started off w/dry details about banking transactions. But #Farro is leading us to the #HushMoney payment
Dr. Robert Browning is the next witness. He is a Purdue professor focusing on #Congress & the #media, he is also the head of #CSPAN archives. He says he was compelled to testify.
Prosecutors played #CSPAN clips, starting w/one from an Oct 2016 #Trump campaign rally in NC, where he talks about 2 women who said Trump sexually assaulted them. “I have no idea who these women are,” Trump said at the time. “These are lies being pushed by the media & the Clinton campaign to try & keep their grip on our country. They’re all false, totally invented, fiction.”
Trump seems to be watching himself as the C-SPAN clip plays on the monitor in front of him.
Polished MAGA lady Batya Ungar Sargon is on #CSPANWJ this morning. She is clever and part of the anti education movement. She said people know which president put more money in their pocket. She also said Trump can not be bought. Clever lady selling the GOP line on GOP owned #CSPAN.
@patricks#cspan has every rightwing "Freedom Caucus" member on, along with Moms for Liberty. A few days before Jan6 they had the organizer of the rally on.
I listen to #Washington Journal every morning. It has become a MAGA Rally with MAGAts calling in on all 3 lines.
Today they had a thoughtful Republican caller who said he was going to vote for Biden because the caller was a Christian.

I subject myself to 2 hours of #CSPAN Washington Journal every morning. It has turned into a 2 hour MAGA hate and grievance rally. I listen only to hear a few minutes of someone sane, not mad, with good common sense speak a few words of wisdom..
They have 3 lines for Democratic, Republican and Independent voters. The MAGA kooks call all 3 lines and flood the show with FOX nonsense.

I made the grave mistake of turning into #cspan early for the #SCOTUS hearing on the trump v.s. 14th amendment and it's "Lets have a few callers on" time.
I made the mistake of turning on MSNBC for a second right after #Iowa was (surprise 🙄) called for #Trump. They were quoting some of the voters, and those voters were saying that (their) God chose Trump.
Then an MSNBC commentator (rightfully) made the point that nobody running against Trump could possibly compete with that.
At that point, I turned off the TV. I cannot stomach watching one second of this alarming, nauseating BS.
