🤬 files lawsuit against investors' climate proposal

“This is the first time Exxon is seeking to exclude a shareholder proposal by filing a complaint in court. It says the investors are "driven by an extreme agenda" and that adopting stricter emission goals would be detrimental to its business and share value”

If you thought it was ok to vote because the UK would still be environmentally protected to the same levels as EU or more because and told you so…you were mistaken.

They didn’t even write their plan or promises on the back of an envelope.

Their lips moved - they lied.

The divergence wasn’t accidental, it was deliberate to appease .

#Tory MPs continue to lie using copy and paste statements from Number 10 to write back to constituents to tell them new fossil fuel licenses in North Sea are about energy security and reducing bills.

It’s complete BS when 80% of ‘our’ North Sea oil is exported overseas. But in any case the licensing to foreign companies means it’s not the UK that would ever benefit, just the #BigOil execs.

Is This The Biggest Corporate Crime Ever Committed? - YouTube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lEISWQubf5Y

"Big Oil has known for more than 50 years that fossil fuels pose a huge danger to the climate. They covered it up to keep raking in profits.

It's one of the biggest corporate crimes in history.

Now California is suing to make them pay for the damage."

From the hellsite, some truth:

Meanwhile, on both MSNBC and CNN they are "marking" #MLKday by spending at least 12 straight hours interviewing white people about how white nationalists are going to vote tonight in the 31st most populous state in the country

I wonder if the Evangelical and/or working-class White Iowan caucusers even grasp that they're promoting tyrannical gov't for #BigOil benefit.

Wheels of justice turn slowly.

'In 2020, Minnesota...sued the American Petroleum Institute, ExxonMobil and Koch Industries in state court, alleging the oil industry has caused a “climate-change crisis” through a “campaign of deception.” '

#SCOTUS denied a change-of-venue request by defendants, as it has in ~25 similar requests.

No guarantee that Minnesota will win the lawsuit, but one can hope.

When I worked in a coal-fired power plant as a teen, I saw them strip mine the #Alberta prairies. The bottom ash, and some of the fly ash would be hauled back to the pit before being covered over. I think of that process when I see #bigoil talk about #carboncapture. After burning everything in sight, they try to capture some of it and bury the remains, and say “good as new”. There are better ways. Our goal should be to disturb nature as little as possible.

Good news everybody!

Direct air capture of CO2 will allow for "net-zero" oil to be produced and consumed. The is solved!

Not only will be able to profit from first selling then again from cleaning up (some of) the damages (at exorbitant rates only made possible by huge government subsidies into technologies), but it will also be able to gas light us into thinking it's good for the environment.

, 97, among dozens arrested in protest

26 November 2023

Sydney, Australia, Nov 26 (EFE).- "Dozens of protesters, including a 97-year-old man, were arrested on Sunday during a protest off Australia’s east coast that disrupted operations at the country’s biggest coal export port.

" group had organized the protest to block the traffic of coal cargo ships in the port of Newcastle since Saturday.

"The group said on its Twitter account that at least 59 people have been arrested so far.

"Since Saturday, groups of 50 to 60 protesters have been taking turns in rostered two-hour shifts getting on canoes and inflatable boats and preventing ships from leaving the port.

"Among the protesters who went out to sea was Alan Stuart, a 97-year-old religious pastor.

"Stuart said he was doing it for his grandchildren and future generations after being pulled out of his boat by the police.

"'I am doing this for my grandchildren and future generations because I don’t want to leave them a world full of increasingly severe and frequent ,' he said. 'I am so sorry that they will have to suffer the consequences of our inaction. So, I think it is my duty to do what I can and to stand up for what I know is right.'

"Rising Tide claims that the protest prevented more than half a million tonnes of coal from leaving the Newcastle port by the time the demonstration ended.

"Protesters demand that the Australian government stop all new projects that involve the use of fossil energy and confront the more decisively.

"The climate crisis is one of the big issues of political debate in Australia, a country exposed to the effects of and .

"Australia is the world’s second largest exporter of thermal coal and the largest exporter of cooking coal."

When 97 year old religious pastors are getting arrested for trying to stop fossil fuel projects, we have to ask ourselves about the motives of those who have them arrested.

It’s not extremist to want your children and grandchildren to be able to survive on this planet. We know the only slim chance of that being possible is if we keep fossil fuels in the ground. It seems science is allied with religion in this case…it’s #BigOil and puppet leaders killing us.

Not only #ExxonKnew, but also #ShellKnew, way before 1986 as we have thought so far.

"#Shell already began collecting knowledge about climate change in the 1960s. The company not only kept well abreast of #climate science, but also funded research. As a result, Shell already knew in the 1970s that burning #FossilFuels could lead to alarming #ClimateChange."

They did nothing to curb fossil fuels. In fact, they doubled down and developed #coal.
