@arh@QasimRashid It doesn't criminalize antisemitism in the way that it sounds. It enforces guidelines on how the Department of Education is to evaluate discrimination cases.
It isn't a threat to the first amendment, per se. You can say/believe whatever you want. You just can't use that belief to discriminate against a Jewish person in education.
What repercussions it has in education, I don't know. And what may be coming down the pike, I can't predict either. But this seems more for show.
I did not notice the Department of Education part earlier. But I do have a question then. Is the definition of antisemitism changing as a whole or not? Because if it is, that has social implications beyond the school zone.
Ignoring the fact that said definition is inaccurate, being labeled as "antisemitic" can make life quite a bit harder, even though legally you're in the clear.

Let me be clear, I don't favor this. I think it will be a gateway for pointing fingers and labeling people anti-semitic. It is Bad™. But I'm also not a fan of the messaging that is getting spread around online that this is somehow taking an opinion and making it "illegal" in and of itself.
The US (especially the GOP) is subordinating the Constitution to the religio-nationalist interests of a foreign power.
Historically this rhymes with the proto Catholic orthodoxy’s persecution and extermination of religious liberty, stamping out other streams of Christianity by means of defamation which included blood libel, only reversed several centuries later by the Reformation and decades of blood soaked struggle. Today a neo-catholicism is evolving in the state of Israel.

The people born in Gaza are trapped by opposing right-wing authoritarian forces. Bludgeoning them all as a collective punishment for Hamas' actions will not bring peace. It just makes recruits for rhe next cycle of violence.
