@neurovagrant one of the most effective suicide prevention mechanisms is to create an environment in which one can, and would, actively choose to participate in when we’re at our most vulnerable.
@neurovagrant Problem is
One of these lets them make 1(one) tweet a year and pretend they're doing something about it (they are not)
The other is a mountain of work, some of which requires going against a very uncaring society, the rest of which just takes a lot of time and effort, and most people who post about this don't actually care enough to do work
@neurovagrant I once felt so incredibly bad I decided I'd call one of the lines search engine suggested me, after all what do I have to lose at this point, but no one picked up. I googled the number itself then and apparently we have only like three regional lines, and they have working hours. so ugh, sorry that you feel suicidal, can you please wait until monday morning? kthx bye
so beyond dumb, but hey that little spark of anger did help sober a tiny bit
@neurovagrant Ian, wouldn't UBI Universal Basic Income be the ballast that stabilizes your whole pyramid of needs? (If you upend your list, with UBI as the foundation, aren't all those items much more achievable.)
@neurovagrant We also need to stop discriminating against people who have developmental disabilities such as Autism Spectrum Disorder as well. Both me and my brother are autistic and it's hell for both of us in society because it's not built for us and it's very confusing to navigate when you just want to do something that neurotypicals find easy and it's extremely stressful as well
@neurovagrant as I keep posting lately, my move into public housing has been a life changer. I literally don't have worries, and can start working on my mental and physiological health problems
