It's all a part of the Heritage Foundation "Project 2025", which is al long list of fascist ideals. Here's a quickie summary, plus a Wikipedia link:
• Replace federal civil service employees with party loyalists.
• Eliminate the FBI, and departments of Homeland Security, Education, and Commerce.
• Place the military in charge of law enforcement.
• Ban the drugs used for medical abortions.
• Require all states to report statistics on abortions, including gestational age and method used.
• Eliminate all laws providing civil rights protections to LGBT+ people.
• Criminalize production of "pornography", and imprison people who create it.
• Define all media that support trans rights as "pornography".
• Require teachers and librarians who support trans rights to register as sex offenders.

• Reinterpret the First Amendment to protect religious freedom only for Christians.
• Redefine the way people are counted in the Census, to rig apportionment of House of Representatives seats and electoral votes.
• Disregard all climate change regulations, and maximize natural gas, oil, and coal production.
For your followers who don't already know, this is from the Heritage Foundation, a think tank founded in 1973 that was instrumental to getting Reagan elected in 1980. Heritage Foundation is not just wackos like the Proud Boys. They represent the core policymakers of the Republican party.
In short, fascists are now in charge of the Republican mainstream.

What? That's what Dominionist Christians have been openly saying was their plan for at least the last 25+ years (likely far longer but that's when I started following them), except they want it anywhere in society where levers of power exist. They are a significant factor in the GOP turning religious.

My point is that Dominionist Christians were an important, but peripheral faction in the Republican coalition.
For most of its history, the Heritage Foundation was an old-fashioned make rich people richer organization that appealed to Dominionist Christians as a necessary allied faction, and through Nixonian Southern Strategy dog whistles also appealed to racists, though they aimed at racists more through their overlap with Dominionists.
This Project 2025 suggests a new era of the Heritage Foundation, which has Dominionists as its core, racists as a key ally, and old-fashioned make rich people richer Republicans as tag-alongs who answer to the Dominionists.

@GottaLaff getting this some more traction may well hinder the Republican agenda. The more people know what it is, the less likely they are to vote for it. In Canada, the patron of the Conservative party, Stephen Harper advised his successor to NOT discuss what the CONs would actually do until the election campaign.

I think we need to stop calling them Christians because they do not follow the teachings of Christ. The exact opposite! I hope someone in branding can come up with a good new term to label these dangerous fascists.
@GottaLaff I suspect Pence may be gunning for another go-round as VP. And if Trump were a typical Republican grifter, there might actually be a chance. But Trump is a genuine sociopath who genuinely wouldn’t have cared if his followers lynched Pence. I don’t think there’s any way for Pence to get back into his good graces.
@feld@GottaLaff In states where they have effective abortion bans, people who need these kinds of medications to treat chronic illness find the medications much harder to obtain, or can’t obtain them at all, because doctors are afraid of being prosecuted under the abortion bans which are overly broad (on purpose). This is already happening.

@GottaLaff I think the media’s hooked on the clown show, not the horror show. It’s up to Dems to make a concerted effort to emphasize and amplify the abortion issue and not rely on news orgs to do it for them.
@GottaLaff If Pence were truly pro-life, he'd work to regulate guns. Seeing as he will never do this, he's proving he's yet another hypocritical religious extremist.
