You will find that many folks like me, war survivors, won't take any political sides & can see bigger picture of evil ego filled puppeteers & power hungry violent leaders as who they are - evil & heartless towards innocent citizens.

I'm upset over seeing mostly one sided support by colonial nations - including Canada. You know most of us called it the US war in Vietnam while Western media/ppl called it Vietnam War? US & colonial states fund/interfere/kill innocent ppl in war games. FUCK WAR.

anubis2814,

@msquebanh Always blown away that Ho Chi Mihn was our strong ally in WWII until we decided they weren't and when interrogating our troops they had no conceivable idea of why the fuck we an ally were fighting and bombing them. Add that thanks to the illegal bombing of the Ho Chi Mihn trail, we dropped more bombs there than both sides in WWII, Cambodia became destabilized to the point that Pol Pot was Able to take over all thanks to Nixon and Kissinger after secretly committing treason by telling the Vietnamese to not agree to peace as he would give them a better deal then Humphrey only to escalate the war further. The when Viet Nam finally invaded and ended the madness in Cambodia, In league with China, St Reagan funded Pol Pot's Guerilla campaign knowing full well about how he slaughtered, raped and tortured 1.5M of his fellow Cambodians and just raped or tortured so many more. We are the bad guy in the Vietnam war there are no ifs ands or buts. The troops often having no idea what they were doing there in the first place. I ain't no fortunate son.

@anubis2814 I know very well & wish more folks knew. Many of my family members & our family friends faced atrocities from US army. Some I am still too traumatized to talk about, almost 50 yrs later. My family received one of my kidnapped Uncle's severed head on our doorstep in Cholon in 1972. 3 years before I was born. That's the kind of thing people in North America don't need to fret about much because it's never happened to them.

anubis2814,

@msquebanh Yeah was told the US was always the good guy growing up, it wasn't until I was 43 that I learned all this stuff about our atrocities. All the evidence is there and well documented but its kept away from us cause it sounds too crazy to be true.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@anubis2814 I was taught same about Canada in elementary public schools. It wasn't til my teen yrs that I started learning ugly real truths.

anubis2814,

@msquebanh The CIA under Ike murdering 5 democratically elected heads of state really messed with my head. Especially Allende in Chile and Lumumbe in Congo

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@anubis2814 Nov 4, 1995 assassination of Rabin was a huge one - mostly ignored & misreported by Western media.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

It is almost, always the folks far removed from real live consequences of violent wars who are the biggest pushers of violent wars. Why should they care about a lot of innocent people dying - when they never considered people like me & my family deserved to live?

I'll say again - anyone who glorifies war is NO FRIEND OF MINE.

KayleenGnwmythr,

@msquebanh
I worked on a wastewater treatment plant in Hà Nội for a few weeks in ~1995. The Aussie who briefed me for the trip pointed out that it was called the US or American war, and that was how it was titled at some of the museums I went to.
There was still a lot of physical and human damage visible then.
And I agree: fuck war.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@KayleenGnwmythr It's mostly US, UK & Canadian media who use "Vietnam War". Western protected interests. It was the US War for us. We lived it. We are upset Western media reframed it.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@KayleenGnwmythr There is a giant hole in ground about 1 km from my matriarchal tiny village from 4 bombs that blew area up.
UN didn't provide some of my villager uncles they tasked to remove landmines in the 80s - scattered all through tribal village areas & 3 of my Uncles were blown to shards, trying to remove them.

KayleenGnwmythr,

@msquebanh
While I was working in Hà Nội I made friends with the woman who cleaned the rooms of the mini-hotel I was staying in, and she told me of similar experiences.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@KayleenGnwmythr There are countless similar lived experiences all through Vietnam. Western media ignores those voices because it makes Western governments look like the evil entities they are.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@KayleenGnwmythr We also lost lots of loved ones to #AgentOrange #ChemicalBiofare on civilians. Those who didn't die are suffering multiple illnesses & disabilities to this day - including many of my family members. We had many stillbirths, deformed babies & many of our ppl had to get limbs amputated. People forgot about us when US left. Western media glorifies war.

bluedotmo,

@msquebanh US has so much of our country invested in the war machine. We need reasons to feed the beast.

@msquebanh I'm just starting to retro-blog about cycle trip in Vietnam years ago. Although NZ was a part of it, the term 'US War', vs 'Vietnam War', seems more fitting.

#Britain is #responsible for many #atrocities & when are they going to be charged in #InternationalCourts for all their #WarCrimes ?

Same with multiple #colonial states - when are they going to be tried for multiple war crimes?

The use of human shields in modern day warfare was first used by #BritishArmy in 1930s.

Please learn actual history.

Ari,

@msquebanh United States 👀👀👀

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari Canada too. I have veteran friends who told me about a lot of hidden horrors. Some refused to carry them out. They were targeted by their own fucking country for demonstrating humanity & bravery against a violent & lying colonial government.

@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari You know what US & Canada did literally less than 3 months after war officially ended for them? They came into Vietnam & started rampant combo ecocide in remote villages - including my matriarch village. They clearcut our jungles(USA) & then mined our lands(Canada). I don't say - Fuck white people - for no reasons & it's not directed towards innocent citizens of either #exploitative Global North countries.

NOT ONE SINGLE WESTERN MEDIA REPORTED ON THAT #ECOCIDE.

@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari Two of my Aunts were kidnapped at gunpoint by US army. Told they were agents for resistance army when they were only trying to walk back home after working all day. One was gang raped while other was forced to watch. Both had their hands amputated by machete. One died in detention & other returned like a zombie & didn't speak for 6 months after being rescued.

People here don't understand real fucking struggles. They are so privileged to choose to ignore people who desperately need help!

NoctisEqui,

@msquebanh @Ari

All of these stories must be told, it must be made known for lies can bring neither healing nor change and change, real change is what this hurting world needs.

Ari,

@msquebanh Guess who didn't learn about this at school? I took history classes as electives in high school. I can tell you an AWFUL LOT about white men and the achievements of white people in Canada. I've been trying to process my negative feelings about how I grew up with this knowledge, only to realize I know absolutely nothing about the world or even my own country of residence. All of these horrific actions have been covered up.

msquebanh,
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari You & so many others were never taught true history. You can catch up, in adulthood, like many of us have had to do. I know you really want to decolonize ❤️❤️

msquebanh, (edited )
@msquebanh@mastodon.sdf.org avatar

@Ari My loved ones were still trying to understand WTAF happened to them with #AgentOrange #biowarfare because they'd never seen so many people die from just trying to breathe before. To this day, Agent Orange affects a lot of my family overseas & it is a #USA #WarCrime that never got any consequences. We learned - if you're white & have power - you can murder countless ppl. It's how more grassroots terrorism grew in many areas.

#AsianMastodon

milkman76,

@msquebanh instead of being honest and condemning any of this history and very recent history, they seem to just keep "crowning" new totalitarian parasites. They call their own unelected dictators "kings" (god save them!) in the Caucasian, western world, and they call elected leaders in non-white adversarial states "dictators". It's always the same. This colonial order must fall, and it must fall soon.
