Hello again , I may need your . So, here's a list of the Fediverse software I'm about to make temporary accounts for to test all the features and differences:

So, did I miss anything noteworthy? Does anyone have any tips or recommendations before I choose a server for any one of these? I'll probably be going for the most popular server on each for improved federation and maintenance.

Note: I'm using right now and Misskey forks are already overrepresented, so that's why it's not included.

@oskoo and - operates along similar lines to , but it has nomadic ID which is pretty unique which is a bit slicker than migration. Many sit with a dilemma, choosing between Hubzilla and Friendica (I still use both as I could never decide).

@danie10 @oskoo Do you have two different topics or use cases for each, or do you switch weekly?

@danieldekay no the same - I have hundreds of different followers on each network, although all could follow on either one. I post manually to Hubzilla, but my Friendica site auto-posts from my blog RSS feed.

Both networks are profile -only posts, so no separation into topics like Google+ had. I loved posting into topics as that gave some focus for followers. Actually think Reddit has that inside channels, but I left Reddit for Lemmy.

@oskoo I run a whole bunch of these:-) mastodon.world / sharkey.world / lemmy.world / bookwyrm.world / calckey.world (firefish) / funkwhale.world etcetera 🙂

@oskoo Firefish is dead in the water, and you should probably add Sharkey to the list (a Misskey soft fork)

pancakes,

@ada @oskoo firefish appears to be back under a new maintainer and rolling release model and has received 2 updates afaik firefish.dev/firefish/firefish

@ada Ah, I see. I keep hearing that but I might have missed some news (or maybe it's precisely because there hasn't been Firefish news).

There's a little note under the list about why I didn't include . I'm currently using it and I feel like I've explored most of its features here on my primary account, but thanks for the recommendation. I'm really enjoying it so far.

@oskoo The Firefish main dev left the project, handed it over to someone else, without warning, and the Firefish key instances maintained by the old dev are all gone. There will be people still using it, but the project is dead so it doesn't have much of a future.

In terms of features, if you've got Ice-Shrimp covered, you'll be covered for Firefish functionality, as it is one of the projects that split from Firefish

@ada Cool, thanks for the details, that's very helpful!

Yeah, my current instance used to be on Firefish before migrating to Sharkey, so I might just skip it if Firefish doesn't have anything unique to offer compared to Iceshrimp. Chatting is the main feature I never tried, so if Iceshrimp still has that I'm probably good.
