Timberline Trail Backpacking: Day 2

Ramona Falls and the recently reopened Yocum Ridge section of the trail were highlights on day 2. This section is passable but there are still some serious parkour challenges to overcome. I ended up almost competing the trail and camping in Paradise Park. Awesome day. I even got to meet @PizzaDemon, who was on a day hike!

Ramona Falls. The water fans out over moss covered rocks and then merges back into a creek. Trees are on both sides of the falls.
Section of the Yocum Ridge trail that recently reopened after fires and and then wind knocked hundreds of trees down along the relatively short trail. Although recent cleared, several very large trees are stacked over the trail leaving only room to crawl under.

Timberline Trail Backpacking: Wrap

I made it back to Timberline Lodge before sunrise, so I completed the trail in about 49 hours. Took the Mountaineer Trail up to 7,000 feet to see sunrise from above Timberline Lodge. Amazing! First time seeing the Silcox Hut, which was originally built as a warming hut for mountain climbers.

@andrewbriscoe Mt. Hood, my love! And wow, all the way to Elk Cove in a single day! Isn't that like 30 miles or so? You also must have come past Cloud Cap Inn. I went up Tilly Jane to top of Cooper Spur some years ago and always dreamed about doing the whole Timberline trail. Maybe still one day... Thank you for sharing these beautiful views & moments! 🙏🫶

@toxi Glad to share, i’m having a great time while taking photos and hiking. It was just over 20 miles and 4800 elevation gain so i’m exhausted. The trail north of cloud cap and especially coming up from Eliot Creek was dealing with a lot of down trees in the baking sun.

@andrewbriscoe Absolutely! The sight of new life growing between and on top of the dead trees is maybe even more extra special to witness. Recently I watched some videos about the re-opening of Eagle Creek and even though there's damage still visible everywhere, the valley seems to recover more quickly than I thought...
