Why are we regressing on user interface usability instead of getting better?

Here is the first run setup wizard on a @Raspberry_Pi 400. There is a select box to choose your country. It has pre-selected the United States (for some reason). I want to choose Australia. Typing 'a' to jump to the top does nothing, I have to scroll-scroll-scroll to get there. 1/2 #ux

I tried to see this replica 16th century pirate ship that one guy built over 10 years but apparently it sails around and is not a permanent fixture. So doing my obligatory visit to Urangan Pier.

New M4 iPads have more cores and are likely higher performing than my Ryzen 7 5800U based laptop and yet still can be used for development. Even a simple task like editing, building, and deploying my SSG (Zola) based website can't be done without the help of a remote machine running a real operating system. When will Apple focus on the iPad operating system instead of the hardware? #Apple #iPad

It appears that you can't add an account to a list in #Mastodon unless you follow that account. Is that correct or am I missing something?

My use-case is that there are some accounts that are interesting but too high-volume so I don't want to see them in my Home timeline. In Twitter I had a list where I collected these accounts and could check in on them now and then.

Played around with the MILK-V Duo this morning. It certainly feels snappier than the Mango Pi, although that might be because it's running a buildroot image and not a full distro. Idle it uses about 75mA, running while true; do echo Hello; done over an ssh connection it pulls 100mA. #milkv #riscv #linux
