    For those who aren’t aware, Microsoft have decided to bake essentially an infostealer into base Windows OS and enable by default.

    From the Microsoft FAQ: “Note that Recall does not perform content moderation. It will not hide information such as passwords or financial account numbers."

    Info is stored locally - but rather than something like Redline stealing your local browser password vault, now they can just steal the last 3 months of everything you’ve typed and viewed in one database.

    Well, we ended up making an offer on a flat. It’s a duplex on the top floors of an 18 story building, with a parking spot, the main bedroom and bathroom on the top floor, 2 more rooms on the bottom floor, and a nice big sundeck with an amazing view.

    In the end, we’d rather have a really cool flat than a « meh » house! It’s on the higher range of our budget, but by the end of the week, we should have confirmation it’s ours, meaning you might see a new studio in 4 months or so!

    One of my favourite books last year was @pluralistic 's 'The Lost Cause'. It is a realistic yet hopeful look into our near future, and feels like a preview into our battles to come as well as our strategies to overcome them. Despite grappling with topics like climate change, pandemics, fascism, and domestic terrorism, it manages to paint a vision of the future that is not drenched in doomerism, and can provide some well-needed cautious optimism instead.

    @pluralistic Doctorow's latest book 'The Bezzle' (a prequel to last year's Red Team Blues) can now be backed on Kickstarter in exchange for a printed or DRM-free digital copy of the book. And after having read Red Team Blues as well as his last two books, I'm pretty sure this one will be well worth the time and money invested as well.

    Keep the improvements coming, Valve! I always hated playing 3D shooters on a gamepad, but the Steam Deck's trackpad + gyro changed that. Very hard to get used to it at first, but now it is a must for me. I wish more games would implement it better. There are too many that can't handle mouse and gamepad controls simultaneously, including several Verified AAA titles like Control and Horizon Zero Dawn.
