Those who say protestors are "out of line" for occupying buildings and other violations of "the law" seem to forget that the Civil Rights Act would not have happened if civil rights leaders and all those crying out for racial justice had obliged every law on the books regarding property rights, trespassing, etc. Remember, the law is not always just. It's why people feel compelled to protest in the first place.

I have a question for the experts in pollens. We live in NC in the south of the USA.

As I have my idea of what causes the explosion of pollen year after year, do we have a consensus that is accepted and validated by the scientific community on why is it getting so bad year after year?

Needless to say, I am struggling with this health issue that was not always a problem in my case.

Picked up this book at Strand Books the other day (Climate Change as Class War, by Matthew Huber) and the intro alone is fountain of great perspective on what needs to change to make meaningful progress on the climate crisis, like this quote: “By linking climate solutions to practical improvements in workers' everyday lives, climate politics need not remain so reliant upon masses "learning the truth" of the greenhouse effect or experiencing the effects of climate breakdown. Crisis averted! The vet clarified they do still provide food, it's just an extra charge now. Whew!

Still, it was nearly a major problem. In large part because what's sold at PetCo and PetSmart mostly have a lot of bad ingredients, reflecting this country's low standards for what's allowed in food for both humans and animals. I don't know the exact percentage, but a substantial number of food products sold in the U.S. are banned in Europe, for good reason.

I know we have a lot of issues to deal with but maybe food safety should be a higher priority?

Wow. So my wife and I just found out at the very last minute, right as we're about to drop the dogs off for boarding at the vet tomorrow morning before we leave for NYC for a week, that the vet no longer provides food, so anyone dropping pets off has to bring their own. There's really no time to make their usual food from scratch in a big enough batch for 5 days. Which leaves us having to figure out what's the least bad dog food one can pick up at PetCo or PetSmart.

Co-worker of mine was out with #COVID but came back in half the recommended isolation time (10 days originally before CDC caved to business interests), no mask. I had to ask him to keep his distance.

Friendly reminder that COVID never magically disappeared. Problem is we settled for an acceptable level which is still too high.
