Since Microsoft seems to not care about the #Privacy impact that the #Copilot+ #Recall feature has, I am going back to #Linux as my daily driver. All my #Homelab servers run on Debian or its derivatives, work servers run RedHat or Windows, but I have not used a Desktop Linux for quite a while as a daily driver. I've been playing with Debian 12 with Gnome for the past few days, and next I'll be playing with Fedora, which I have not used since the early 2000's. We'll see how fast I can catch up.
BTW, since I work mostly in #VR using #Immersed, that is one of the first things I tested, and I got to say, their work to support multiple virtual monitors with #Wayland+#Gnome has really paid off, it works flawlessly in Debian! I need to test it in Fedora in the next few days. Can't wait for my #Visor to arrive. #WorkInVR#Immersenary
I'm still switching to #Debian as my primary OS and keep #Windows as a VM for some work applications, but it's good to see that MS is trying to make this controversial feature a bit more secure.
Immersed founder talked about changes for the Visor 4K #VR headset, among the most important ones: changes to the software and use a higher quality wifi module to allow for untethered use, added 2 additional cameras (total of 6) for better hand tracking.

AARRRGGGHHH - having a tough day today! This morning my #VPS provider sent me an email that they are shutting down TODAY, and I'm left looking for a VPS provide that supports #FreeBSD AND can provide #IPv4 + #IPv6, AND is inexpensive...
Any VPS provider not supporting IPv6 nowadays is really lagging behind.
Now that everything is back up and working in the new provider, I will be testing some other VPS services in the US South Central, I need IPv4 + IPv6, low latency, and eventually I want to add a pfSense server on the VPS so I can offload some stuff from my homelab more easily than my current setup.
Finally took the step and deleted my Twitter account. The move to decentralized social networks its full on. Instagram is next to go... and eventually Reddit, but a lot of the vendor supported or heavily used communities are still not on other platforms, so it'll have to wait.
The most recent #ImmersedVR update is awesome! Some of the public and private working areas have been redesigned and improved. I really enjoy working in this #SpatialComputing app every day. If you have a #VR headset check them out at https://immersed.com
Finally got around to installing Friendica to see if could be my go-to platform as it can federate with ActivityPub as well as Diaspora and others, but in reality I am not liking the interface, and even when using it from the Fedilab app it is missing some features that I like from Mastodon and Kbin.
I won't be keeping it too long.
Next step: Deploy my own Kbin instance. I really like the kbin interface, the only thing keeping me back is how daunting the docker install looks.
Based on this SCOTUS ruling, as an #atheist, I can now deny service to a religious person... I mean, it should go both ways, if a religious person can deny service to a gay couple, I can deny service to a religious bigot!
Though, if a seller tells me they don't want to provide me service because of their beliefs I will happily take my money elsewhere, but what if the only pharmacy in town wants to deny me service because of their beliefs? That should not be allowed.
@moelassus Life came up and I couldnβt do it this weekend, got pushed for next. I'll post an update here once completed (if I still have Internet afterwards, LOL).
@moelassus @techviator
Pfsense upgrade went very smooth. 35 minutes since I took the screenshot of the installed packages until everything was back up and upgraded.
I followed the process as listed by Netgate: performed full backup, removed all installed packages, rebooted, performed the upgrade (it reboots by itself), reinstalled all packages, and rebooted again for safe measure.
First boot after upgrade took about 3 minutes instead of the usual 1.5 minutes it takes on my device, but since I was looking at the console I saw the boot process and it was all good.
I am fairly new to the #Fediverse, but have been in IT and #homelab for over a decade, I am thinking or migrating from my current instances and creating my own #Kbin and #Mastodon instances for my personal use only.
Any suggestions or ideas?
Any reasons you would not recommend it?
Security concerns?
Also, 1 shared VM for all of the instances, or 1 for each?
I am considering if full VM or LXC, the LXC would be faster and consume less resources but I'm concerned with the security of the host.
@mastodonmigration Thanks! Just joined the #kbin:matrix channel maybe I can get some assistance there. Also I had not considered hosting Matrix, I might as well...
I am definitely staying with a #MetaQuestVR Will upgrade to the #Quest3 though. For productivity #ImmersedVR is still the best out there, and for watching my movie collection #SkyBoxVR.
The Netflix, Amazon Prime Video and YouTube apps also work, but they definitely need an update.
Not moving towards the #Apple#VisionPro at all. The device looks cool, the 2D with AR portion looks great, but 3D content seems lacking, and the price is way up there as expected. #VR#VirtualReality
