I expect I’ll buy Furiosa when it’s available via digital release. Fury Road (and its 1970s/80s precursors, Mel aside) earn it that much. haven’t set foot in a cinema since Rise of Skywalker; may never again. don’t care what the critics say. Miller knows his shit.
The Ken Burns speech says all the right things in the most Ken Burns way possible.
(Too many $65 words; mostly preaching to the choir.)
Forgive me for not worshipping at the altar of Ken Burns; his Statue of Liberty doc, which ended with syrupy “only America has freedom” nonsense made me roll my Canadian eyes so hard that I couldn’t take him seriously after that.
Aaron Sorkin expressed my reaction better than I can:
All you need to know about Alito is that when he was caught committing a little light treason, he wasted no time before tossing his wife overboard. #PortraitsOfCourage
There was a time when professional design & presentation helped separate the fly-by-night from the well-established. Even those who couldn’t articulate why or how one ad (commercial, website) was better than another could tell one was. It was no guarantee, but it was a helpful clue.
Facebook stripped all that away. On Facebook, the guy selling stolen shit from his van looks as legit as Target or Home Depot.
Google’s AI-generated search results do this, too. #AI#Google
Operation Kitchen Window Screen Patch has been completed. Let’s see those June Bugs get through THIS (temporary & woefully inadequate half-assed repair job).
You seem convinced of a future with AI, but mostly I see companies like Google jettisoning credibility, blockchain scammers that have pivoted, and people ingesting other people’s work with a disregard for ethics & legality that only Uber & Airbnb could admire.
I already use LLM-based video transcription; it’s great. Where else do you see it as being valuable today?
@tantramar you know I've been using Linux since 99-00 and this is a real shame everyone was so nice then. Like REALLY nice. I remember posting something dumb on usenet and some author sent me a free physical copy of his book to help me out!
