i hate shopping at kroger because their self-checkout stations never have scales that work and so it thinks you’re stealing and in order to scare you it plays back a video of you from above so you’ll stop stealing but i am not so i just get sad because it shows that on the top of your head you are balding and you’re self-conscious and you’re not a thief you are just 30 and you shouldn’t be balding this soon oh why oh why must it be so

As an American that has grown up on dine-and-dash culture, I am legitimately agitated by Europe’s laissez-faire restaurant service. You never get water refills without asking for them, the server seldom comes to check on you, and your bill comes like 20 minutes after you request it. It’s flabbergasting.

Download “Actions” from the App Store (it’s free) that adds conditionals like orientation state when you trigger your Action Button so you can do stuff like this!

Will be trading in my R1T for a new R1S. Sad to see my truck go and I may regret it (R1S has some downsides I don’t think are present on the truck), but how often do you have the chance to make money on a car you’ve owned for a year? Couldn’t not do it.

The last I’ll say on Beeper/Apple/iMessage debacle:

I think it’s within Beeper’s right to attempt at reverse engineering iMessage, but not Apple’s responsibility to be forced or even expected to host Beeper customers. It’s clear Apple doesn’t want to and I don’t blame them. If this ever went to court, Apple would obliterate Beeper—even if they switched lawyers. It’s not Beeper’s right to push the burden and expense of hosting on Apple.

I remain deeply unsatisfied that there's no replacement for the best e-reader ever made, the Kobo Forma.

It used an 8" E-Ink Mobius display, felt impossibly light, had perfect weighting and display taper, and nothing else available matches it.

LED lightbulbs SUCK. I would pay seriously $100/ea. for an A19/21 lightbulb that (a) doesn’t flicker, (b) is works with dimmers, (c) is enclosure-rated, (d) is available in 3500/4000K, (e) has 90+ CRI, (f) comes in a 100W+ equivalent ~1,600 lumen variant.

No such light bulb exists and I’m furious.

@marcoarment Interested to see why you don’t think sunglasses work in the leg compartment. I think it’s pretty easy to reach! Protip: put documentation in a cheapo bi-fold document holder and hold it in place behind the elastic strap in the center console.

Reddit had a no good, very bad week. Reversing on its 15-year support of 3rd party apps, new API pricing makes using anything other than the official app financially unviable. And with just 30-days before changes take effect, indie devs are on the hook for potentially millions of dollars of unexpected costs and/or App Store refunds. I talked with @christianselig about how it has affected Apollo, the best iOS Reddit client out there.

America is cool but tacos. On the plate today is perfectly tender pork chop tacos with chamoy salsa, elotes (Mexican corn), and cilantro lime rice. 👨‍🍳💋🤌

This beats out burgers any day (still love burgers tho).
